Each room offers a unique and romantic country setting. In addition, we also provide Al Fresco dining during the summer months. Over the years, we have been recognized as "Best Italian Restaurant" by Rhode Island Monthly and Newport Life magazines. Sardella's is a favourite spot of many locals, celebrities, politicians and tourists.
We had a rehearsal dinner for my son's wedding. As a Food Service professional I had several concerns before deciding to book our event with Patrick. I explained to him that my concern was ample food as a good percentage of our quests were former football players with quite an appetite. Being in the business, I understand and respect the fact that if you book for 50 people you are going to get food for what you agree upon.

Meatball appetizer was cold. They brought us new ones. The second time they were hot & delicious. Waitress was attentive at first then we lost her for awhile. Pizza on the menu is made next door. She was getting orders from there. All in all not the best experience I've had there. But... I do love it there & we'll definitely be back!

Made a reservation for my husband and I for New Year’s Eve. We were seated within a minute- the server came shortly after, we ordered drinks that arrived right away, and placed our food order after that. We both got the lobster bisque as an appetizer and the NY Sirloin for the entrée. We also shared a lava cake with ice cream for dessert. The food was great and it came out so fast. The ambiance was amazing- such a cozy restaurant. Our waitress was attentive and very polite. Great experience. Happy New Year!

I’ve been coming to Sardella’s for 20 Yrs, it is a shame as I actually love the place, but unfortunately, the food has gotten so much worse year after year. What used to be my favorites, could basically be replaced with Prego spaghetti sauce, stop and shop spaghetti, generic meatballs, and it would taste far better than what I had there yesterday. The puttanesca, it’s a far cry of what it used to be, the service is still good but I don’t think the owners have tried to eat what they are selling, as I am sure any 13-year-old making pasta for the first time would do a better job. Sardella's is amazing! We held our sons wedding rehearsal dinner here and the event was better than we could have ever imagined. We had to rebook the date several times due to Covid and Patrick made it simple and stress free for us. The rooms are perfect size (even had a fireplace), the food was incredible, and the service by Matt and the entire team was beyond exceptional. From the second we arrived, Matt took care of everything and made it so we could relax and enjoy the evening. I found the service here sub-par and the pasta uninspired. Would I eat here again? Yes. Would it be top on my list of places to return to? No.
There was nothing wrong per-se, but I expected a bit more from a local Italian eatery. My food was on-par Olive Garden - nicely cooked pasta with a healthy amount of sauce. The portion size was on the smaller side and there was no bread for our table which disappointed me.

My husband and I spent the weekend in Newport and chose to go to Sardella’s for our anniversary dinner! Our first time there and it did not disappoint! There were so many mixed reviews but I am so glad we went and tried it for ourselves. The atmosphere is great, we made reservations and got seated right away. The seating is a little tight but it was worth it! Our server was great and our food was phenomenal! I got Napoli pasta and it was so good, I can’t wait to go back and get it again! I was looking for an Italian place for an anniversary dinner that served Bolognese, and I'm glad I looked no further.
The pasta bolognese was delicious and just the right serving size. I even cleaned my plate completely, which never happens!
The seating situation was a little weird being inside/outside by one of the bars, but the heaters made it comfortable.
The only odd thing was that we had bread plates at our table, but never got bread. Our server also seemed a little distracted, and so two other people had to come around our seating area to try and find our table to bring us our food.

Came to Newport for an anniversary and had a hard time finding somewhere to eat that didn't have an hour wait. Lucky for us we found Sardella's who seated us immediately in a booth with a nice atmosphere and great service from the staff. The food was amazing! The salmon was some of the best I've had. We will definitely be back when we come through Newport again.

Indoor ambiance was great. We came early (booked through open table and they only had one time slot but restaurant was kind of empty??)
Our waitress Emma was fantastic. She was so attentive, had recommendations and just super friendly.
The meatball appetizer was amazing. It was like 3 huge hamburgers lol. Pizza was good but yes on the small side.
Haven't been at a restaurant that serves complimentary fresh hot bread with EVOO in a while so that was a bonus.
Would definitely recommend if you're in the area. Oh and the Sardellas house wine was great too.
