Shimkiri is an International Latin dancer who is the undefeated Edison Ballroom Champion, Vice-Champion of the NJ Open Rising Star Latin and finalist in many US competitions.

Our private lessons give you personal instruction in our shared ballroom. This type of lesson is helpful for you or you and your dance partner if you are learning for a special event or want to improve your dancing at a faster pace. Private lessons aren't just for the pros. If you're new, but still want that individual attention to get to your ideal level, we have options for you!

Our ballroom is over 1600 square feet, however we also have a retractable divider that will create a community room on one side of the ballroom (Ballroom B, approximately 800 square feet).

JC Ballroom is the absolute BEST!!! My husband and I had never danced before but wanted to do a cute First Dance for our wedding reception. Werner was SO incredibly patient with us and taught us the routine step by step. After 10 lessons, we were so comfortable and confident in our performance! Our wedding guests LOVED the dance routine and thought we were professionals LOL!
Werner and the JC Ballroom team are so encouraging and kind. Werner totally understood our dance level and made sure our routine would be challenging and exciting, but also super do-able for beginners! We loved every lesson

Love love love Dylan and all instructors here. We've booked the package for our wedding first dance choreography. Little did we know 2020 and Covid was going to hit us when we first started late fall 2019. Our third to last dance lesson was in March 2020 and pandemic happened. So we had to cancel the wedding and rescheduled so many times over the past 2 years. We've officially celebrated our big day with family and friends in Sept 2021! Thanks to Dylan's lessons, we didn't make a fool of ourselves:) would definitely recommend this studio to anyone else in the neighborhood!!

JC Ballroom has transformed my life and the way I dance so positively in the 6 months I've been dancing with them. I kid you not when I say was the clumsiest when I first started out in late July, but under the great instruction of all the wonderful teachers (Paz, Werner, Shimkiri, Dylan, & Dennis) I've improved so drastically. JC ballroom is the best! My husband and I took dance lessons here to prepare for our first dance at our wedding - and I am so glad we did! We danced to a Sinatra song and our guests cheered and clapped the whole time. Dylan was our instructor and choreographed the dance for us in a way that was approachable to beginners while also engaging and energetic. Jersey City Ballroom is THE BEST. Our first dance was 100% the best part of our wedding - people were cheering and SO impressed with our moves. We also had a crazy mash up request [Dave Matthews into Thriller...!] and JCB didn't bat an eye. Dylan was so excited to teach us to dance and came up with the best routine ever. Both my husband and I had never danced before and I believe we would have gotten 10's had our wedding guests gotten scorecards. My husband and I came to JC Ballroom for dance lessons and choreography for our wedding's first dance (September 2021). Dylan was our instructor, he is so fun, patient, and collaborated with us on what seemed possible and what wasn't. My husband has two left feet when it comes to ballroom and Dylan made him into a fair dancer! Our dance went off without a hitch and everyone was still talking about it a month afterwards! I bought a Groupon for a Wedding Dance Consultation and Lesson for One Couple. Our lesson was for a Friday at 7:45 pm and scheduling was super easy - all you have to do is email them, and they are super responsive.

My husband and I had the best time learning our wedding dance with Jersey City Ballroom! They made for very fun date nights leading up to our wedding and on our wedding day our guests were so surprised we did an actual dance rather than just swaying. We actually started lessons pre-pandemic, moved further away during the pandemic and it was difficult to finish up our lessons but everyone worked with us to get us where we needed to be for our big day. Our experience with JC Ballroom started pre-pandemic, lasted through a move to the east end of Long Island, and culminated in the most perfect first dance we could have imagined. Dylan was a phenomenal teacher and went above and beyond for us by continuing our zoom lessons while we lived 2.5 hours away from the studio. The whole staff is amazing and Carla is a pleasure to communicate with in regards to scheduling lessons and buying class packages. 20/10 would recommend working with this studio!

We had so much fun working with Dylan and the Jersey City Ballroom team for our first dance for our June 2021 wedding! Being new to the area, this was a great way to connect with a local business and learn something new. What a great experience! My new husband and I were fairly skeptical about taking dance lessons and doing a "formal" 1st dance at our wedding, but we could not be more pleased that we did. We wanted to keep our 1st dance authentic to who we are (without looking like fools), and Jersey City Ballroom helped us deliver on that goal! Dylan was our instructor and was truly phenomenal; he has the patience of a saint and the humor of a stand-up. Jersey City Ballroom is great! My husband and I really wanted to do something special for our first dance, and Dylan put together a great routine for us. I love the staff and instructors at the Jersey City Ballroom. Dylan, our instructor is a talented dancer and a fun motivational teacher. His enthusiasm is infectious! We had a few lessons with a NYC dance studio and JCB is so much more fun and authentic. JCB focuses on teaching you how to dance, instead of selling you packages. I feel completely comfortable with Dylan and look forward to his lessons. When the COVID-19 crisis is over I encourage you to consider taking lessons at this wonderful studio.

I love this dance studio! My fiancé and I started coming here a few months back to prepare for the first dance at our wedding and we did that and more! Not only did our dance instructor, Dylan, choreograph the first dance of our dreams but he gave us something fun to look forward to as we plan our wedding. We started going to dance lessons because we didn't want to do the 5th grade sway for our first dance. We were paired up with our instructor Dylan who is so funny and such a good time! We thought we didn't want a choreographed dance as they can come off quite cheesy but the more dance lessons we took, the more fun we had together and the more we had fun nailing our choreographed dance together! We ended up buying more classes than we originally did and day of didn't even care if it looks good, bad or cheesy because we were so proud to have accomplished such a random thing together

I have been taking private ballroom lessons with Werner now for nearly 3 years since moving to Jersey City and I can say that the studio is one of the most friendly and supportive communities I have been apart of. Never short on energy (or sass), Dylan took our song and built an entire dance for us. He took all of the ideas and dreams my wife had, and was able to incorporate ALL of them into our dance. My now-wife and I took 10 private dance classes with Dylan to prepare for our wedding first dance. I went into the process with zero ballroom dance experience. Dylan helped us choreograph and teach us the dance to our song. He adapted it to what we liked and we had a ton of fun in the process.

To my and my Husbands surprise we had a great time dancing and choreographing our first dance for our wedding at the Ballroom. Dylan was amazing and we highly recommended him as an instructor. He was helpful, nice and fantastic at teaching us some basics and choreographing something special for us. I advise you go buy the larger package and just have fun with it. We originally bought the smaller class package but would recommend at least the 10 pack. It couldn't have been any easier or more fun then it was. We are considering going back just to dance as a hobby now that the wedding is wrapped

We joined Jersey City Ballroom to prepare for our 1st Dance at our wedding. My husband had 2 left feet and had never taken a dance class before. We prepared for 8 months by attending 1 group class a week. My husband really enjoyed the group lessons and it helped build his confidence for our 1st dance. My fiance and I are currently enrolled in dance lessons for our wedding. I don't love to dance but I enjoy coming to JC Ballroom because of how friendly, patient and warm the staff is. We are working with the studio owner Shimkiri who has been helping us choreograph our first dance.
I can't stress this enough - Shimkiri is SO patient! You can tell that she is definitely used to working with people who lack skills in the dance department (aka myself). She is used to working with all skill levels. ,
