The goal of physical therapy is retrieving the physical abilities that were lost due to the aging process, injury, disease, surgery, or environmental factors. Physical therapists apply research and proven techniques to help restore lost function. All physical therapists are now required to receive a degree from an accredited physical therapist program before taking the national licensure examination that allows them to practice.
Ice or cold therapy is used to decrease swelling, inflammation and pain associated with joint sprains and muscle strains. It is typically used the first 4 weeks after an injury. The effects of ice therapy include decreasing blood flow (vasoconstriction) to the injured area, limiting the inflammatory process, and reducing nerve conduction velocity.
Stretching is a treatment technique used to increase the flexibility and mobility of soft tissues such as muscles, ligaments and tendons. Improving flexibility through stretching improves joint function, improves your muscle's tolerance for physical activity, and improves circulation. Muscles, ligaments and tendons are often tight and painful after an injury, illness or surgery.
ROM is a treatment technique used by a physical therapist to increase joint flexibility and to restore lost mobility in an injured joint. ROM also improves joint surface lubrication. ROM is used if there is restriction in joint range of motion. Improving joint ROM increases joint function, flexibility and reduces pain.
Traction is a modality given by physical therapists for the purpose of applying a force that draws two adjacent bones apart from each other in order to increase their shared joint space. Traction also stretches the muscles, ligaments and tendons that surround the joint. Traction may be given manually, by means of a device or via positioning.

They've been an amazing team that worked so well with me. The stretches they sent home with me have been awesome, accomplishing amazing feats in just one week. They worked with me and listened to what I've had to say. The atmosphere is relaxing and encouraging. It has been an amazing experience and made recovering easier then I had anticipated!

I have been undergoing physical therapy for my knee replacement for 9 weeks at Caldwell Physical Therapy (CPT). All the staff at CPT are friendly and knowledgeable. The entire staff is involved in your recovery program and they push you to do your home exercises and encourage you to do your best while at their facility. Rulin explains in depth what has gone on with your surgery and why things hurt or progress the way they do. I have been to other Physical Therapy facilities and Caldwell Physical Therapy is Top Notch. They are not selling their building; there was just an office space available
