About Sutton-Garten Co. William Raymond "Ray" Garten began his career in the welding department at the Prestolite Company in Speedway, Indiana. Prestolite manufactured acetylene lamps and lighting systems for cars and trucks, and was owned by Indianapolis industrial pioneers Carl Fisher and Jim Allison.
These gentlemen stared the Indianapolis 500, Allison Engine and Allison Gas Turbine. Garten was responsible for training welders and lead burners with Prestolite, and when the company was sold to Union Carbide and Carbon's Linde Division, he was transferred to Chicago, Illinois. There he met Charles R. Sutton.

Sutton-Garten can provide bulk gas installation for bulk argon, oxygen, nitrogen, carbon dioxide, helium and mixed gas systems for higher volume applications. Cryogenic or refrigerated bulk tanks provide safe outside storage of gases which can be piped to use stations inside your facility. Cylinder handling is totally eliminated, and it results in a safer workplace and much lower overall cost for your gases.
Sutton-Garten's Fleet of Bulk CO2 Delivery Trucks & Nitrogen Trailers Can Fill your Liquid Cylinders on Site at your Facility. This service eliminates cylinders handling, saves on product cost, and cylinders may be filled from a remote fill box or via transfill hose, removing the headache of moving cylinders in your facility.
We certify and provide top notch training in Mig, Tig, and Stick Welding as well as Oxy / Fuel and Plasma Cutting. Does your company need to upgrade the skills of your welders? We can provide customized instruction on pipe and plate welding using stick, mig and tig welding. Training on aluminum, steel and stainless is available.
We can customize a welding package to fit your exact requirements from our fleet of over 250 pieces of equipment. Short or long term leases, and rent to purchase plans available on all our equipment. We rent only late model units in good operating condition. Equipment can be shipped nationwide. We can also supply filler metals and gases to make a complete package.
Sutton-Garten Co. is an authorized warranty repair facility for most major brands of electric welding equipment including Hypertherm, Esab, Miller, Lincoln, and OTC Daihen. We also repair most brands of gas welding and cutting equipment at our Indianapolis headquarters. We carry a complete line of electric and gas apparatus parts.

Super helpful staff. Owner Matt Garten took extra time to make sure we had exactly the right equipment to do the dry ice blasting I needed to do. Caress came in on her day off to make sure we got the equipment on Sunday that was needed. Zach made sure we had the right amount of ice for the project. It's thanks to all of you that our project was a success. A great experience.

Fantastic. I had no account, and just needed their smallest tank of helium for my son's weather balloon project. Not only did they let me use a tank for a reasonable ($150) deposit, they filled one while I waited because they didn't have a small tank filled. More than just that though... they were friendly and wanted me to get what I needed. Late on a Friday evening even!

Maybe you're going to ship some frozen sausages from Smoking Goose to your friend in Colorado. They'll stay frozen if you ship double-packed with ice and dry ice. Maybe you want your ice cubes to stay frozen when you go to a music festival so
