Its Membership and approved manufacturers/suppliers work together to grow and strengthen a North American network of independent gas and hard goods distributors. The goal of the IWDC is to create an environment that allows our membership either to compete on an equal playing field or gain a competitive edge over the national chains or majors. Establishing ongoing negotiations with vendors to secure National Account Agreements for best buys and better profits.
The intent of any for-profit corporation is to produce a profit for its owners. Cooperatives are Member-owned corporations whose owners are also their customers. Thus, the Members of cooperatives have a built-in incentive to work together and, in turn, with their co-op's staff to achieve better purchase prices, efficiencies, and value-added services.
Cooperatives are voluntary organizations open to persons willing to accept the responsibilities of membership. The relationship can be voluntarily ended at any time. Cooperatives are democratic organizations controlled by their members, who actively participate in setting policies and making decisions.
