Two $2,000 scholarships are awarded to high school seniors who are members or dependents of members in good standing of the credit union.

I've been using SFCU for several years and they have put a hold on my card probably 8 times now for "fraudulent" activity when I was just using it the way I always do. They never checked with me first or let me know after they did it. $32 overdraft fee and $1.50 "daily negative balance fee." There is no way to reach them on nights or weekends at all. I'm switching to a bank as soon as possible.

I took someone I n my family to open an account. The teller was clearly having a bad morning at 9 am. She asked for proof of ID and address. We provided it. She took an internal call while helping us set up a new account and details were said in front of us. Unprofessional. She gave very little attention to us trying to start a new account and expressed difficulty in our proof and gave us no alternative solutions. We left upset. No need to go back. Gave a manager a voice mail. Waiting to express our concerns with the unfriendly teller Debbie in Franklin tN.

After receiving a quote from them via LendingTree, I was asked to submit a loan application for a boat purchase. I was told they process loan requests in 1 day. It's going on 5 days now and I still can't find anyone to tell me when I can expect a response. Very frustrating to wait days on a process that should takes seconds (literally).

Dont answer emails or calls and when you get someone on the phone it doesnt matter what number you push you always get the same woman and they just want to push you into a application and not listen to you or answer questions

Let me start off by saying my parents have closed their accounts here and I'm currently waiting on a check so I can close my accounts/loan. We purchased a boat in SC which does not require trailers to be titled. TN requires titles. So, we had to go through the DMV to get the paperwork to satisfy the TN requirements. Everyone knows how slow the DMV is. The trailer was valued at $750 on a total loan value of $15.5K. Immediately after the loan finalized, Southeast Financial began calling me almost on a daily basis to harass me for the title of the trailer. They already had the title for the boat

Parked on the street at a meter near this credit union. I needed some quarters for the meter, so I went in there expecting that someone might be able to exchange a dollar bill or a $5 bill for some quarters. Nope- they say it's against there policy for non-members. I argued with the teller- I asked her if she knew how dumb it sounds that a bank can't exchange a dollar for some quarters. She just said "sorry- against our policy". So I went to Starbucks and they exchanged the dollar for me. Better customer service at Starbucks than this sad excuse for a bank. I went back in

I'm very happy with Southeast Financial. I like the fact that they aren't a mega corporate bank. The employees at my branch in Memphis (Cordova branch) have always been courteous, friendly, and helpful. The reason they don't get 5 stars is because they only have 2 branches in Memphis, so I sometimes end up paying ATM fees for convenience sake. But I very much like the fact that they are a credit union, not a bank, and they have limited fees, good rates, and excellent customer service.

Was with them for 13+ years. Got busy and was 32 days late on two bills. After dealing with Stacey Dotson in collections, I ended up closing all my accounts there. I literally called them to pay my bills and they could not/ would not due to the amount I wanted to pay. Again, they refused my money over the phone. ( yes, the collectors at southeast financial literally refused my payment as too large!) Stacey closed my accounts out of spite that day, despite the fact that I payed the full balance, the entire balance.
So, if you're looking for a bank alternative that will close your accounts

Having been with the leaching corporate banks my whole life; I made the conscious decision to vote with my money by choosing to bank exclusively with Southeast Financial Credit Union.

Since getting two vehicle loans, a checking and banking account, I have found that Southeast Financial Credit Union provides seamless processes and efficient problem solving.

Yes, it is a little work to update your accounts at a new institution. The effort is worth the time.

They gave me simple interest on my loans. They have no ATM fees and no account fees. They have on-line banking and excellent customer service
