Regular eye exams are an invaluable tool in maintaining healthy eyes by detecting and preventing disease. Some diseases develop slowly without causing pain or vision loss. Early detection of any problems can reduce the risk of further harm and allow for a choice of treatment options. The entire exam process can take an hour depending on the complexity of your problems.
At McCalla Eyecare Center, you will find a compassionate and experienced team who are dedicated to providing a full spectrum of high-quality personalized eye care for your whole family. Our goal is to meet or exceed your expectations by providing friendly service, professional care, and quality products at competitive prices.
At McCalla Eyecare Center, we carry a very wide selection of designer prescription frames to suit every style, personality and budget. Below are just some of the brands that we carry in our optical boutique. If there is a specific designer frame that you are looking for, please call and speak to one of our frame experts, who will be more than happy to assist you.
Blepharitis is a condition where a low grade bacterial infection of the eye lid margin occurs. It can cause uncomfortable, stinging, burning, itching eyes and eyelids as well as blurred vision. Blepharitis also increases your chances of getting other eye infections. Blepharitis tends to be a chronic condition, meaning that it really never goes completely away.
There are two types of macular degeneration (MD), wet and dry. Almost without exception, wet MD starts as dry MD. Generally speaking, dry MD is not nearly as severe as wet. Our goal, whenever we find someone with dry macular degeneration or any precursor to dry macular degeneration, is to try to reverse dry MD changes and prevent dry MD from advancing to wet MD.

I've been using McCalla Eye Care for several years now and I've never had a problem. I went yesterday and I noticed they had a few new people. These were the nicest people I have ever met. My daughter was getting contacts for the first time and they helped her through getting them in and taking them out and they were so kind and patient with her.

I booked an appointment 3 weeks ago & filled out the online form including insurance. When I arrived I was told my insurance could not be verified because it was Saturday so I would have to pay. Why wasn’t my insurance verified before my Saturday appointment since the staff said they knew it can’t be verified on Saturday? Is the staff taking my payment then charging the insurance? A tidy profit can be made by double billing.
They do not deserve even the 1 star.
I will be finding a more professional eye care center.

I went to Mccalla Eyecare last year. The dr was friendly but his staff was rude. I picked out the frames I wanted and it took almost 3 months to get them. The girl Was very rude and practically threw them at me. I told her I couldn’t see and she told me to try wearing them anyway. I took them home and they were terrible. I went back a few days later and they said I had to see the dr. They made me an appointment for a week or 2 later. The dr checked them and was going to give me a hard time because I had had them for several months. i had only had them for for less than 3 weeks. They had the wrong

Every time I have been here, either for myself or a close family member, I was seen pretty quickly. The optometrist(s) are great answering questions. Picking out glasses also goes quite smoothly as well. I recommend trying it out.

I was a new patient there and they were so nice and helpful! It went by quickly and everyone had a great positive attitude. I really enjoyed it while I was there because everyone was helpful and explained as they went. They were also very sanitary and followed CDC guidelines. Overall a great places to get an exam and glasses! I can tell those people love their job!

The Dr. is awesome dealing with my daughter who has autism. Now some of his staff on the other hand is rude and seem like they just don’t want to be there. I’d love to go back once he makes some staff changes!

The doctor was great! & very knowledgeable with my 8 year old who is just now starting to have to wear glasses. We had a really good experience. It was an end of the day appointment too and the staff was very kind and patient while we took the time to pick out his glasses (A very important decision! 😊) I'm so glad we found a good eye doctor for my son to reguarly see. Thank you McCalla Eye Care!

My wife and I have been going there once a year for about 5 years and today was the 3rd time they canceled my appointment at the last minute. I work 8 to 5 weekdays and weekends are the only time I can come in. Many people I have spoke to say this has happened to them as well. I will never return to them again and I don't recommend them at all. Very unprofessional for a doctors office.

Ive used McCalla Eyecare for 10 years. Dr Pyron is a very exceptional doctor. Seeing patients from newborn to our sweet elderly. The glasses selections are awesome and always being updated almost weekly. The staff is friendly but still human. McCalla prides themselves in taking care of patients as if it was a loved one of their own. Worth trying!!

I moved to this side of Birmingham area recently and had to find heath providers closer to home and work. I called for an appt, they got me in the same week.
Staff is friendly, small waiting area but they are moving into a larger office in the same plaza.
I'd been having a little trouble after hours and hours of computer work so wanted to get some glasses to to ease the strain. I've had lasik eye surgery about 11 years ago so finding someone who is knowledgeable and able to get the rx right can be a challenge. Dr Pickrell took a lot of time trying various combinations until
