Nursing home care and long term care costs in Massachusetts are often over $150,000 per year. Medicare and private health insurance will only pay for nursing home care for a short time and not more than 100 days. Many people don't think that they will ever need nursing home care, but sometimes their needs cannot be met at home.
A will is a legal document that provides instructions to be carried out after your death. In a will, you need to decide who should receive your assets when you die. You also nominate a Personal Representative, who serves as the manager of your estate. He/she will pay your debts and distribute your assets according to your wishes.
