Services
Rosa Lee Young Childhood Center was founded over 45 years ago when a group of well-intentioned women had an idea. The idea was to create a high-quality, affordable childcare center for people from all socio-economic backgrounds. These women took their idea to the streets, some of them pushing their own children in strollers, as they knocked on the door of Rockville Centre residents to ask if they had a need for a childcare.
The child-centered environment at Rosa Lee Young Childhood Center allows your child to grow into a self-confident individual. Our programs are tailored to provide you with a secure, safe, affordable, and nurturing program for your children. Teachers work with small groups of toddlers helping them grow and develop a trust of others in a safe, consistent atmosphere.
Rosa Lee Young Childhood Center curriculum and programs are based on early childhood research and practice which provides an understanding of how young children learn and develop. The program is implemented within the context of children's everyday experiences and relies heavily on the embedded curriculum in daily routines.
The Rosa Lee Young Childhood Center is about children. Since opening its doors, the goal of our Center has remained the development of each child's capabilities, while embracing their unique learning style, temperament, and personality. Family input is sought at enrollment with a detailed child development history from the parent.
The Executive Director of our school is Christina Laface. She has served as a teacher, Program Director and was appointed Executive Director in 2021. In the 49 years that we have served the community, we strive to make this a school that values its teachers. We have a very low teacher-turnover rate, meaning that your children receive continuity of care.

Child centered and developmentally appropriate early education for my daughter. Very happy with them and their special care to the individual needs of my child. My three-year-old had always been cared for at home by family and it was so helpful to have such a supportive and loving place to help her transition into full day care outside of our home. They communicated with us often and made sure they were flexible during the first couple of weeks until she was acclimated and felt safe and secure. They are not too large to center and there’s always continuity of care with the same staff at the front
