Accreditation Council

ACPE sets standards for the education of pharmacists to prepare them for the delivery of pharmacist-provided patient care. Since 1932, ACPE has worked with educational institutions and organizations to assure excellence is available for people in the pharmacy profession. ACPE is recognized by the US Department on Education as the national agency for the accreditation of professional degree programs in pharmacy.

ACPE accreditation is public recognition that a professional degree program leading to the Doctor of Pharmacy degree is judged to meet established qualifications and education standards through initial and subsequent periodic evaluations. Accreditation is distinguished from licensure, which applies to individuals.

There are a number of forms that can support providers with their accreditation processes. Description: ACPE staff hosted a webinar for the Spring 2021 review cycle providers. This webinar covered statistics and information on common standards that were frequently marked as 'Needs Improvement'.

ACPE is committed to advancing the pharmacy profession through quality resources that offer professional development opportunities for CE professionals while strengthening provider programming.ACPE offers a number of on demand webinars on the policies and procedures as well as the eleven (11) CPE Standards.

CPD is an approach to lifelong learning. ACPE defines CPD as a self-directed, ongoing, systematic and outcomes-focused approach to lifelong learning that is applied into practice. It involves the process of active participation in formal and informal learning activities that assist individuals in developing and maintaining continuing competence, enhancing their professional practice, and supporting achievement of their career goals.

Joint Accreditation for Interprofessional Continuing Education offers organizations the opportunity to be simultaneously accredited to provide continuing education activities for multiple professions through a single, unified application process, fee structure, and set of accreditation standards.

Jointly accredited providers may choose to award single profession or interprofessional continuing education credit (IPCE) to athletic trainers, dentists, dietitians, nurses, optometrists, PAs, pharmacists, physicians, psychologists, and social workers without needing to obtain separate accreditations.Joint Accreditation for Interprofessional Continuing Education is the first and only process in the world offering this benefit.
