Macular degeneration causes central vision loss and is a leading cause of blindness in the United States. It becomes more common after the age of 55 and the risk increases as you age. Having a family history of macular degeneration increases your risk of developing the disease. There are two main stages of macular degeneration, commonly referred to as "dry" and "wet".
If you've asked about contacts and been told that you can't wear them, you should ask again. Contact lenses are available for almost any type of prescription. Advancements in lens technology have made many new contact lenses available. The latest lenses are thin, moist, and comfortable.

Today's lenses are much more convenient than the older models, as well, with extended- or continuous-wear technology allowing for days or even weeks of continuous wear without removal.Excel Eye Center has full-service optical centers in Provo, Orem, American Fork, Lehi, and Payson. Our ABO-certified technicians are not limited to one or two contact lens contracts - we can order lenses from any distributor in the world.
The cornea is the clear surface at the front of your eye that is used for focusing. If the cornea is damaged by trauma, infection, or disease, it may become swollen or scarred. This can result in significant vision loss and pain. Several conditions may require a corneal transplant. You and your ophthalmologist can decide what is best for your situation.

Everyone in the office was great with my 14 year old daughter. They were so thorough and friendly. We were being seen for a potentially scary eye condition but no one made her feel anxious or scared.

We appreciate the excellent care we have been given at Excel Eye Center. We have full confidence in Dr. Schmutz. He is going to do Cataract surgery on my husband this coming Wednesday. Our family Dr. referred us to him and we are so happy that he did!

I was able to get in on time and met with the doctor quickly. All personnel were very professional and spent enough time to explain my results and answer any questions that I had. An enjoyable experience.

I got a PRK procedure done here a few months ago and I have nothing but good things to say. Dr. Ricks and the staff here at Excel Eye Center took time to make sure I understood what to expect and I felt very supported when my nerves kicked in. Now, a few months later, my vision is 20/15 and I couldn’t be happier with the results! Thank you all!

I have been a patient for about five years now and love this office. Everyone from the front office staff to the physicians are amazing to work with.
They are friendly, considerate and knowledgeable. The physicians that I have seen have been so helpful and willing to take the time to make sure I understand my particular eye health needs and answer all my questions with each visit.

I was checked in by a knowledgeable, charming, efficient receptionist, waited for a very short time before being shown to the exam room by yet another friendly, efficient individual. After a brief work-up prior to meeting with the doctor, I waited for a short time when I met with the doctor. He explained my situation, took some tests to validate his findings and was told to return in a month after trying the Rx prescribed for a month.

I’ve seen Dr. Morris and Dr. Loveless for optometry, and Dr. Ricks performed cataract surgery on both my eyes last month. I have felt valued and cared for, and the results of the surgery and other treatments have been nothing short of stellar. I can’t recommend this practice and these doctors highly enough. I will never voluntarily go anywhere else.

My son and I both have been patients here for many years. We both have chronic issues with our eyes, my son especially. Dr Wilkinson has taken gone to great lengths to find a solution for him.
The medical assistants are knowledgeable, the office staff polite and helpful. I trust the care and information I'm given here.

Everyone was fantastic! In particular, the first lady that did the majority of the eye tests, her name is Kimmy. She was quite probably the sweetest and most helpful person I have ever found in the medical field. Full stop.
The doctor, and even the sales side of the Excel eye Center, we're helpful, not pushy, and even made suggestions where I might have better luck at specific options.
I mean, what company offers their competitors as an option?
The answer: a company that is secure in what they do.
I don't get paid by them, I'm not employed by them, or anything else. I'm just a customer of theirs

I brought my 5 year old for an eye exam. I also had a 3.5 year old and 11 month old in tow. It was my 5 year olds first ever eye exam and she was nervous and a little excited. You can imagine what waiting in an office with 3 kids under 5 is like. My 5 year old was having trouble with sitting still for one of the screenings. Dr. Simmons came out after a few minutes and in front of his staff members asked someone to help old my 5 year olds head in place "to keep everyone quiet". I felt very shamed that he said that out loud in front of his staff and my children. There were also other patients

I've been coming here for years, and while before I thought the service was so-so, today it appears that this office is a religious entity, pushing a Mormon agenda. I get that this is Utah county and Mormons gotta morm. But in a medical office, I don't expect to encounter the Book of Mormon. Obviously, no one is going to read it in an eye doctors office; it was merely put here to advertise the office is Mormon-friendly, when they should be more concerned with branding themselves as insurance-friendly and medically up-to-date.
So, if it's important to you that your eye doctors and

The staff was ok. The doctors seemed very, very rushed. I took my daughter (13) in for contact lenses. They would ONLY write a contact lens prescription for the lenses they "fitted." I had to pay a fitting fee, and I had to return to get the actual prescription. When we asked for a prescription for the lenses she WANTED, my daughter would have to have more lenses, come back for another fitting, and they still wouldn't be the lenses she WANTED. So. If you want a particular style, brand, or contact lens, GO ELSEWHERE. We will be doing that, for sure.

While the doctors seem average, the office staff never ceases to anger me. To get in a defensive mode explaining to me basic fitting fees for wearing contacts and treating me as if I were four and understood nothing, I will not be returning. Had this only happened once I would be a little more forgiving. However, the entire office staff seems to be having a bad day EVERY day. I don't need that. I will be taking my three and yet-to-be more contact and eyeglass wearing children's business far away from here.
