Q: What kinds of doctors serve your patients and residents? A: Abingdon has its own team of physicians, plus a medical director and other contracted physicians, such as podiatrists, to help meet your needs. Q: Do you offer outpatient services? A: We currently serve the needs of inpatient rehabilitation, and do not currently offer outpatient services.
Abingdon offers long-term care that provides all the comfort and care of home. All our locations provide the amenities and programs of a retirement community, from specially prepared meals, to stimulating activities, to attractively designed community areas and apartments. But Abingdon Health & Rehab Center augments these features with the specialized health care many communities cannot offer.

The staff always goes above and beyond to ensure that patient and resident needs are met and truly cares about the work they do. I have seen first hand the tireless effort, they have put forth during the pandemic to be the families for the residents when visitation was shut down by CMS. They thought little about putting themselves at risk to ensure that the patients and residents had care and comfort throughout and provide piece of mind in a time that it has been hard to come by.

My relative has been there for months and went from being a rehab patient to being a dying cancer patient. I watched as they let my relative’s wheelchair ridden roommate ask to go the bathroom more than once and I had to go, nearly an hour later to remind them and they were annoyed with me. After the virus hit, they have given conflicting information to relatives about the do’s and don’t of the virus and are very inconsistent with the way they handle things! Most people we have been in contact with are snippy and impolite! The facility itself is dark and depressing, and there are no showers

My mother has been in the facility several weeks now. The staff is first rate, professional and caring. I want to personally thank Stacey Taylor and her staff for the exceptional care they have provided, both rehabilitation and medical support. Stacey ensured my mother was able to attend our step-father's funeral. She assisted my mother in getting ready, and actually drove the center's transit bus, getting my mother to the funeral home and of course back to the center. Our family is indebted, and grateful, for the care shown by this team.

A family member recently spent 10 days at this facility .
Good points
Nursing staff was compassionate and friendly.
Therapy staff was also wonderful and made what is normally a chore, very enjoyable.
Bad points
Severely understaffed
No privacy
Poor housekeeping: in the 10 day stay bed linens were never changed, had to request toilet paper, paper towels several times before receiving any.
No in-room showers
No communication between food service workers: had special dietary needs that were rarely followed, even after speaking to several staff members.
Overall, we would not recommend but

I have been an employee at this facility while going through nursing school. Stacy Taylor has been my boss for several years from working at another facility and I have always enjoyed working for her. The staff at AHRC value their employees and do their best with patient care. Aside from the almost inavoidable political and ethic issues in heathcare as a whole profession, it is one of the best privately own facilities for your loved ones. I had a loved one at this facility recently and they were amazing. I could not have asked for a better facility. My family and I were pleased with the care from ALL the staff members. Everyone went above and beyond what was expected. We were walked through everything, every step of the way, from our initial visit when deciding what facility to use all the way to follow-up after we went home. Therapy was able to make progress with my mother that we didn't think would ever be possible in her condition. I absolutely love this facility!!! My grandmother was a resident on the rehab side and the staff had the up most respect and was so caring and helpful. The food was amazing, and the nurses are very helpful to residents and aids!!! If I had a question it's was always answered! I could go home and be ok to go home because she was taken care of very well!!

My grandmother was at AHRC for six months until she passed away. My family and I were very pleased with the care she received while at the facility. Even though there was a family member with my grandma everyday, the nurses were like second family. They always kept us up-to-date on any changes in my grandmother's health whether it be insignificant or major. They were always there for her and we think of them as part of our family now.
