At The Holistic Kitchen, Chef Nancy Banner helps busy people (who know they should be eating better), create simple, convenient, health food, that tastes as if they're cheating. Drawing upon her experience as a personal chef for the critically ill, Chef Nancy is passionate about helping individuals who are struggling with dietary adjustments.

Utilizing whole food and maximizing nutritional content, Chef Nancy creates recipes to enhance wellness and maximize quality of life. Chef Nancy Banner founded The Holistic Kitchen, LLC in 2008. She is a native of Ithaca, NY, a graduate of the Scottsdale Culinary Institute and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Hotel and Restaurant Administration from the University of Nevada at Las Vegas.

I know your doctor may have said to eat anything you want during treatment, but a little more information will help you choose cancer fighting foods that fuel you up AND STARVE THE CANCER. Treatments often kill the cancer, but severely cripple healthy tissue too. A good cancer nutrition diet helps to minimize these crippling effects with maximized nutrition, making survival far more likely, and recovery far more rapid.
It is critical to understand how and what cancer fighting foods to eat to maintain the strength and function of healthy tissue while promoting the death of cancer cells. Survival depends on it! Your cancer nutrition survival program must include a diet of minimally processed whole foods, complex carbohydrates, slow to metabolize and a wide array of fruits and vegetables.
Your body is in a state of disease. You may be undergoing treatment that further destroys your health by attempting to destroy the disease. If you want to live, you've got to eat a diet made up of mostly plant based foods. Experts recommend giving up animal foods altogether, but if that's more radical than you can tolerate, start by eating at least 50% of your calories from plant based foods and then to increase that up to at least 80%.
If you've heard one of my lectures around the country (or read my book), then you know that I advocate whole food for essential nutrition, because a single vitamin or mineral, extracted from its food source, will NOT provide the same benefits that the whole food it comes from will.

We are designed to use food as our fuel source - there are many chain reactions that occur when we metabolize food that we miss from taking an isolated nutrient instead.Unfortunately, many people haven't found the time to eat whole foods every day (one reason I believe disease is so prevalent today).
Foods have a rating on the Glycemic Index, according to how long or how quickly it takes them to metabolize into usable celluar energy, called glucose or blood sugar.
