Just as President Kennedy rallied the nation to dream big and set audacious goals 50 years ago, The Kennedy Forum is working toward lasting change in the way mental health and addictions are considered and treated. We aim to revolutionize the way mental health care is addressed in America, ending stigma against mental health and substance use disorders in both attitudes and practice.
Services
To accomplish our mission, The Kennedy Forum Illinois provides strong strategic leadership, independent, nonpartisan policy expertise and organized action around mental health and addiction in Illinois. Our Leadership Council consists of civic influencers, experts, and stakeholders from across business, policy and community who are committed to this cause, collaborate for impact, and help to support our ongoing work.
We provide information, education, and resources to various audiences related to mental health, substance use, and wellness. We ignite and strengthen connection between people and communities and support the fundamental belief that mental health is just as crucial to our wellness as our physical and spiritual health.
Core to our mission of eliminating stigma and discrimination against people with mental health and substance use disorders is advocating for public policies that increase access to and equity in our treatment system. The Kennedy Forum Illinois wants to ensure the full implementation and enforcement of the federal Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act of 2008 (MHPAEA or Parity Act) as well as the Illinois State Parity Law.
