The Jeffie Jean Studio teaches dancers of ALL ages! Whether you are 2, 16, or 88 years of age, you can be part of our family. The prize pupil of her teacher she called "Miss Louise", little Jeffie Jean performed solos at the young age of three. Then her mother, Jeffie Zell Ward, knew it was time to go far, so off to New York Miss Jeffie traveled to become quite a star! A background of theatre, singing, dancing on stage, New York molded her personality at a very young age.
This class offers both hip hop and tap to your little man. Students will receive a pre-dance warm up before learning the latest hip hop moves and transition into tap. Enjoy an hour of jazz technique and terminology geared toward a beginning/intermediate adult level of learning. We then move into an hour of tap footwork and combinations.
I became a member of the Jeffie Jean Dance Studio family in 1943. Since then, I've had my daughters and cousins become JJDS dancing members. Never losing track, I now have 3 granddaughters starting their 10th, 9th, and 8th year of dance. I can only thank Jeffie Jean, and now Jerisse, for all they have done for my family and the Baton Rouge community for the past 76 years.
Not at all! The class is fast paced and the students are always moving. The class is broken into two sections with a break in between to change shoes, get water and use the restroom. We have found that students focus and learn at a higher level in class when their parents are not present. We have a designated watch lesson in the fall.
The recital fee is per family. Fees are based on the number of families at the studio and the rental fee for the theater for that year. The recital fee includes your reserve seat tickets. All Jeffie Jean Dancers receive a marble based 1 year trophy to reward them for a year of dance. In addition, students will receive a 3 year, 5 year, 8 year, 10 year, 15 year and 18 year trophy!
