The Wichita Collaborative Psychology Internship Program (WCPIP) is an APA-accredited internship made up of three cooperating agencies that, together, offer a broad range of training experiences to doctoral interns from either clinical or counseling psychology. We value providing our interns with a learning environment that is stimulating, enriching, collegial and supportive in nature.

We recognize that a primary goal the internship year is learning to broaden and refine clinical skills; however, we also see internship as a prime opportunity to promote the development of skills across a variety of other professional areas too (e.g., consultation, outreach, provision of supervision, etc.).
Services
WCPIP provides experiences consistent with a Local Clinical Scientist Model (Stricker and Trierweiler, 1995) and gives ongoing attention to diversity. The basic philosophy maintains that effective training is accomplished by providing comprehensive experiential opportunities in diverse settings through application of scientific inquiry to clinical problems, and attention to specific, unique qualities of individuals, cultures, and locations.
Please note, while it is not a requirement that applicants be from an APA-accredited program in order to apply to WCPIP, preference will be given to those applicants who are. In addition, WCPIP agencies are not able to financially support Visa sponsorship but welcome those applicants with Student Visas or are eligible to work in the United States.
During the APPIC Matching Process, applicants are allowed to apply to up to two primary placements within WCPIP. Interns work within their primary placement four days a week. These primary placements are offered within four very different settings: A medical school, a university counseling center, a behavioral health center, and a community mental health center.
This APA accredited internship offers training in clinical psychology while focusing on neuropsychological practice to help prepare trainees for a formal two-year fellowship in clinical neuropsychology. Specifically, internship training focuses on adult and geriatric practice and eventual board certification in neuropsychology (ABPP/ABCN).
This APA-accredited internship is structured to provide general clinical psychology experience while providing interns with specialized training in the assessment and treatment of children, adolescents, and families. Interns will provide outpatient diagnostic evaluations and evidence-based treatment for children and adolescents with emotional and behavioral problems.
