Services
Hamel-Lydon Chapel commitment to serving just one family at a time ensures that your family will receive exclusive use of our entire historic chapel building for your loved one's arrangements. The oldest funeral home in Quincy, Lydon Chapel dates back to the 18th century, when our home was built as a wedding present for a young woman by her father.
At Hamel-Lydon Chapel & Cremation Service of Massachusetts, we take great pride in caring for our families, and will work tirelessly to provide you with a beautiful, lasting tribute to your loved one. In addition to the services we offer, you will receive an online memorial that you can share with family and friends.

Moore and her step-mother Ethel McLaurin, twin sister Kimmie Moore and her son Andrew Moore. She is also the grandmother of Aria Moore. She is survived by a step-brother David White, and her three step sisters Shannon Heard, Veronica McLaurin, and Gwendolyn McLaurin.
Our staff is comprised of dedicated and licensed professionals with the experience to answer all your questions regarding our services. Chris started his career at the prestigious JS Waterman & Sons in Kenmore Square Boston in 1992 where he served his internship, gaining invaluable experience serving a diverse and multi-cultural community at the busy, metropolitan funeral home.

Michelle went above and beyond for my family. She is still going above and beyond for my family and when my mom had lost all hope she was right there to help pick up the pieces. I honestly don’t know what we would’ve done without them and we are forever grateful. I know my dad is looking down and thanking them also. It’s been a tough year and they… are the most caring people we could’ve asked to find in our time of need. This doesn’t even do justice to what they’ve done for us. Words could never explain but it’s a start!!! They are there to help

My Father had passed the beginning of June/2021. It was almost impossible to find some place that would work with Me or wanted all the money in a lump sum. I found Hamel-Lydon Chapel & Cremation. An they have the most amazing and understanding Staff. Its a already hard experience but the staff at Hamel-Lydon make things go smoothly. An they keep you well informed through the whole process. I wish i could give them 10 stars they are that worth it.

We are so glad that out parents researched this and took care of making their plans known well before their passing. My husband and I did the same. We feel comfortable that our only child will not have to be concerned with what our wishes were for our bodies after death. A simple phone call will take care of everything except minor costs for the medical examiner and copies of the death certificates. Michelle Lydon was easy to speak with and very forthcoming with all the details. We appreciate the complete service they have provided to two generations of our family.

My experience with Hamel-Lydon deserves a 5 star review: compassionate, patient and caring people, and also very up-front about costs (which were very reasonable), honest and professional. Chris the director handled everything perfectly, without up-selling any more than our loved one wanted. All of our loved one's valuable belongings from the hospital were carefully safeguarded, Rose from the chapel even made a point to call me back when a price of documentation was going to be literally a few dollars higher than expected, so that there was no misrepresentation. During a very difficult time and making arrangements on my own, Hamel-Lydon staff was very empathetic, reassuring, professional, responsive and warm from my first call made to them - to my last interaction.

After the sudden passing of my mother-in-law, the Staff at Hamel-Lydon Chapel & Cremation Service made the process of handling her final arrangements as easy as it could be from the other side of the country. Michelle and team were there for my family from the moment my mother passed and I know if I needed anything, they would try to help still. They worked with us to ensure our mother’s service was everything she deserved while trying to keep expenses in check. When our family lost our little brother unexpectedly... Lydon was there, lovingly and patiently reassuring my distraught mom that they would take care of everything, and they did... when we lost our beloved dad... Lydon was there once again to ease our sorrow... when we lost our mom, literally the glue that held us all together, Michelle was there to keep us all from falling apart.
