Services
Capt Quaks is currently offering carry out and curbside with limited patio dining on both front and back porches. We also offer an isolated room for seating. Masks must be worn at all times unless eating at your table. Masks must be worn in all other parts of the building and when entering and exiting the patio.
Quack's 43rd Street Bakery developed out of a desire to provide our customers with a quality baked product to pair with our coffee drinks. We began searching for a source for these items and soon realized that one didn't exist, and we decided we would do it ourselves. We opened our bakery in Hyde Park and the rest is history!

Lady at the cash register seemed annoyed when I didn't know how to use the card machine. Felt rushed as a first time customer. Didn't know if the staff was talking to each other or me.
This place really gives off Austin vibes. Perfect name. Great decaf latte.
I would recommend asking if customers would like any of their pastries heated.

We drive all the way from Round Rock to get these yummy little pieces of heaven!! We usually aren't disappointed. Still following covid protocol and they've created a nice little outdoor patio area which is really nice during the day. Still no indoor seating, but for us still worth the drive! We love the cherry pie, shortbread cookies which are always decorated so cute and taste yummy! I also like the strawberry thumbprint cookies and my hubby likes the wedding cookies. When I can I also like the gigantic cinnamon rolls and cranberry orange scones and muffins!!! Yikes!! Too much yumminess

Came for a sweet treat on a Wednesday afternoon and it wasn't too busy. Lots of pie options! The employee recommended the blueberry pie and the key lime pie. The blueberry pie was really good and not too sweet. Crust was kind of hard, probably because it had been sitting in the refrigerated display window, but delicious. The key lime pie was very refreshing and not too sweet. Crust also kind of hard, very cookie-like in texture, but tasty nonetheless. Runs around $4.50 for a slice.

Thank you Quacks workers and pastries for brightening up our Sundays. I’m grateful for flaky pain au chocolat and cranberry muffins (our usual). I love how efficient the ordering process is. You can tell how popular this bakery is by how many people are queued up on weekend mornings. Expect a line, be pleasantly surprised when there isn’t one!

Quack's made our wedding cakes and they were beautiful and delicious! We had a tiered wedding cake with cream cheese frosting that was light, fluffy and sweet, and a tasty coconut groom's cake that Kirsten of Quack's let me customize. She's a listener and quick on email. The cakes were devoured by the end of the night! The tiramisus we ordered for the rehearsal were very popular and irresistible. They even made groom strawberries at our request! I highly recommend Quack's' cakes and customer service. Thank you so much!

My husband and I went over the weekend and ordered slices of key lime and coconut cream pie, as well as some shortbread cookies. The key lime pie was phenomenal. One of the best we’ve had in quite some time. The creamy tartness of the lime was perfectly balanced with the sweet crunchiness of the crust. The coconut cream pie unfortunately left a lot to be desired. The whipped cream on top was fluffy and delicious but the coconut cream really had no cream to it and I was left chewing rather large pieces of coconut that were very unappetizing. It ruined the mouthfeel of the whole thing and I couldn’t

Quacks is great. They have a wide range of delicious and delicate pastries a few of which are vegan. It's a long time Hyde park favorite and has opened several satellites, one of which is a cake centric bakery I've yet to visit. They also have wonderful breakfast croissants that don't go out until around 8 or 9 am but are worth the wait. For the most part their staff is pretty affable but there are a few surly sues you may have to weather but don't take it personally, it's a demanding counter to work I imagine. The scones are the best in town as are the croissants and salt oat cookies. Bottom line

A true gem of Austin - I'm obsessed with their chocolate cake. I'm taking off a star (wish it could be 1.5 stars) because the three times I've come in, I've had a weird experience with the workers (rude, brisk, dismissive). One time makes sense - maybe someone is having an off day. But three times, not a fan. I'll continue getting their pastries but maybe I'll just get someone else to pick it up.

It’s possible that new employees have started to work here, but the tension is obvious. It seemed to me that the person in charge was too! I saw at least 3 employees in this small bakery, but it seemed a little chaotic. I totally understand having to train new employees and I will stand there without complaining but at least say hello or smile. Take it easy!
All the goodies I ordered tasted great! I think you will have more business if there is a team with good attitude and leadership! Good luck!

My mom and I randomly found this excellent bakery while discovering Austin. Their goods are incredibly fresh and they give old fashioned attention with each pastry item. They sell classic and modern items.
Usually, everything is planned with a trip however we were trying to find a part of the riverfront that my brother mentioned was a good place to walk. The gps kept turning us around. Finally we stopped at a small grocery across the street for refreshment and saw this place and wandered in.
I couldn't decide what I wanted. Everything looked so good. Finally, we settled on a sticky

We stopped here for a treat and ended up leaving with LOTS of treats! Everything looked so good.
Caramel brownie cupcake: Excellent. Moist chocolate cake and real buttercream frosting that wasn't too sweet. I plan to return to try more cupcakes. Easily the best cupcake I've had recently.
Cinnamon roll: Good but the bottom was hard and tasted a little burnt. The inside was really yummy though. Good icing.
Banana chocolate muffin: Delicious. Moist, just extremely well done.
Banana bread: maybe a little over cooked. Good flavor, but just a tad dry.
Cherry pie: Good, classic cherry

Going here was a mediocre experience for us, unfortunately. The service people had poor attitudes and seemed like they didn't want to be there. The desserts were decent. We liked the key lime pie. The chocolate cake was okay. I am a die-hard chocolate lover and really like my chocolate desserts very rich, and this was a little too light for my taste. However, it didn't taste bad and I think most people would enjoy it. Overall, the desserts weren't all that fantastic, so the combination of that with the service people's attitudes is why I gave 3 stars.

This is very uncomfortable to write about the experience tonight. I am a minority man; I have lived in this neighborhood for ten years. Whenever I have gone to this place, the cashier/barista has to start/end the sentence with what up/buddy/man. I have noticed the other people in the queue in the past were addressed as sir/madam/you'll. I live in this neighborhood, so I said I would put up with this nonsense to get some goodies from this place.
But today was overboard; I was called "son" by a young white woman barista. It's racist to call a grown man "son". When

A few days before Valentines I slipped into Quacks to get the GF a cookie. Had seen the Baby Yoda ones on the IG page. Also got a few other treats (vegan muffin, other cookies). Everything tasted great and won big points for the cookies. Staff was a little less than friendly but chalked up to a bad day which we can all have in retail.
Went back a few days later to give them another try. Got the latte cookie, some vegan treats, and a few other items. Again all the treats were amazing but again felt like staff was less than thrilled that we were there.
Food - 5 star
Service - 3 star as they

This is a solid little bakery and cafe. I enjoyed the americano and the shortbread cookie I had, although the cookie was a little disappointing flavor-wise. Just somewhat bland. They make other types of cookies, have a full-service espresso bar, serve deli sandwiches, and even create custom order cakes. It’s definitely great for a quick coffee and pastry, but I’d go out on a limb and say the sandwiches and cakes are good, though I’ve never had them.
