CCA Academy
In the summer of 2013, CCA Academy began its Holistic Wellness program to teach students healthy eating and physical activity habits to achieve and maintain lifelong health and well-being. The program has expanded to include an Urban Agriculture/Ecology component that integrates theory and environmental sustainability as a pathway to build academic, green technology, and college-readiness skills.

Urban Agriculture/Ecology incorporates transforming vacant lots to gardens, aquaponics, vermiculture, recycling, and composting. CCA is partnering with the School of the Art Institute of Chicago to build a permaculture food forest in North Lawndale.
Services
We will nurture each other to enable each of us to reach our fullest potential and to be empowered to change the world. CCA Academy is a small, private, non-denominational high school located in Chicago's North Lawndale Community.

CCA Academy provides non-traditional students, ages 16-21, who have completed eighth grade with a second chance to earn a high school diploma through a rigorous educational program, extracurricular activities, and supportive services that prepare students with the academic, social and life skills to enroll in higher education, vocational training, or seek gainful employment.
Since 1978, CCA has offered small classes and an individualized, self-paced educational program in a relaxed yet controlled learning atmosphere. CCA knows its students and the environments from which they come and uses that knowledge to motivate the students and ensure a solid basic academic program through family centered learning.
One of CCA's founding principles was to teach students to be independent and self-sufficient. Within months of the school opening in 1978, students opened an on-site bookstore on the second floor of the school. Soon afterwards CCA began marketing student's artwork and literary creations. Over the years, student products have evolved to connect with our Urban Agriculture/Sustainability theme.
CCA will follow the guidelines of Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) and Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) policies with reopening schools. Remote learning at CCA will look differently from the spring. Teachers will take attendance daily, provide live instruction, and offer office hours, both online and in-person to support students.
Donation Support CCA Academy with a tax-deductible donation to help continue its mission to create lifelong learners prepared to successfully pursue college and/or gainful employment through its Urban Agriculture/Sustainability focus. Once your donation has been received we will mark it as complete and you will receive an email receipt for your records.
