Services
Located right off I-40 in Burlington, NC (halfway between Greensboro and Durham/Chapel Hill), Upside Aerial Arts & Fitness offers group classes, private lessons, parties and performances in aerial silks, lyra (aerial hoop), trapeze, sling and pole. Our group classes are for adults (see our Mission below), but we also offer private & semiprivate lessons and parties starting at age 9.
Our studio has a custom-made, professionally-installed pulley system by Circus Gear that undergoes daily safety inspections. We use only professional-grade circus equipment with appropriately-sized safety mats at all times. At Upside Aerial, we've created a detailed curriculum using skill progressions to help prevent injury while you build the strength and flexibility needed for more advanced skills.
In the wake of protests following the murder of George Floyd and so many other unarmed BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color), a group of circus artists started gathering resources to help other circus artists (and really anyone) who want to be a part of ending social injustice in our society.
Give experiences instead of stuff! And what experience could be more unique than circus arts? You can also specify when you want the e-gift card to be sent. Once received, the recipient just needs to call us and let us know how they want to spend it! We'll set them up with an Upside Aerial account and set them up with whatever they choose: group classes, private lessons, a workshop, or any service we offer!
Get tickets for both if you can! Upside Aerial will perform for the City of Burlington's Halloween event at Burlington Athletic Stadium! Our Basic Aerial Party includes a 1-hour aerial silks lesson for $40 per participant at our studio. Age 9 to adult, Max 12 participants. 1. This place is absolutely AMAZING!!! I wish I could give it more than 5 stars!!! The instructors are absolutely wonderful. The atmosphere during lessons is always cheerful and encouraging. Ashanti, who teaches Lyra, is so incredibly talented!!! She’s is extremely knowledgeable in all things dance, and she’s an OUTSTANDING teacher. She’s patient, encouraging and her personality is AWESOME. I HIGHLY recommend this place!!!

Awesome place to join! They offer Lyra, silks, trapeze, hand balancing, contortion, etc. All of the instructors are awesome and highly trained. A fun group of people and Welcoming environment. Highly addictive sport. I started with drop in classes and now a flight club member. I highly recommend this studio, safety is always a first for anyone who is concerned.

I absolutely love this place! Michelle has created a haven for aerialists in the Triad and beyond. Upside Aerial is a fantastic studio with silks, trapeze, aerial hammocks as well as hand balancing and flexibility classes. It has the most wonderful community! The students and instructors are incredibly inviting and it's obvious that everyone is happy to be there!

I love this place! I was super happy to find an aerial studio close to Greensboro. They offer lyra, silks, trapeze, flexibility classes, and so much more. They add classes and workshops daily. The owner is the sweetest and most inviting person ever! All the instructors here are thorough and friendly and want to see you succeed. It's crazy addicting and an amazing workout! 😁

My daughter loves Upside Aerial Arts! It's one of the very few places in this area to study hand balancing and contortion. Her instructor is amazing and genuinely cares about the progress of their students. The owner is fantastic and has been incredibly helpful with payments and scheduling in particular. My daughter and I were welcomed with open arms - we both feel included and valued in this new community. I really cannot speak highly enough about this great new studio.
