Our mission is to build a Catholic educational community that allows for the uniqueness of each student, while fostering charity, tolerance and understanding through academic, social and spiritual development. Every St. Francis de Sales student deserves to have an education that strives toward academic excellence and allows for the acceptance of students with diverse social, intellectual, economic, cultural and religious backgrounds.
Services
In 1893, St. Francis de Sales parish school, staffed by the School Sisters of Mary Immaculate of Joliet, began, and in the late 1890s, the school started to offer high school courses. In the fall of 1937, due to the increased demands of higher education, St. Francis de Sales became a four-year high school with an enrollment of 180 students.
Service is integral to St. Francis de Sales High School. We understand that our school is just an extension of our community and it is our responsibility to support those that we love! From serving meals to providing vaccinations, our student, staff and school lives by the words of St. Francis de Sales "Great occasions for serving God come seldom, but little ones surround us daily."
In honor of International Women's Day in March, we took the opportunity to have one of our seniors interview St. Francis de Sales alumnae and business leader, Chris Cole. Chris Cole graduated from St. Francis de Sales in 1971. She went on to graduate from Northern Illinois University with a BA in Accounting.
For over 75 years, St. Francis de Sales High School has helped families from all walks of life give their children the tools they need to take the next step forward in life - including academics and character spiritual formation. Because of this rich tradition of preparing students for life, the Big Shoulder Fund stands proudly with the Pioneer family as they build upon their past to reach to the future.
St. Francis de Sales High School, the oldest co-educational high school in Chicago, currently has a few openings available for transfer students. We are looking for students who are individuals driven to work hard, explore their interests and be part of a family community that knows you, believes in and supports you!
