Services
New York Pain Medicine strives to relieve acute and chronic pain for the men and women of Midtown East in New York City. Our goal is to understand the complexities of your painful condition and its triggers, explain all your treatment options, then create a treatment regimen that's appropriate for you.
Sprains, strains, and torn connective tissues are some of the common, accepted hazards of playing sports. As a physical medicine, rehabilitation, and interventional pain specialist, Dr. Douglas Allen has unique expertise addressing sports injuries. He uses time-tested therapies like physical therapy and progressive treatments like platelet-rich plasma injections to initiate a speedy recovery.
If you have to live with acute or chronic pain, it can start to affect every area of your life. The experts at New York Pain Medicine won't simply prescribe pain medication and send you on your way. Dr. Douglas Allen evaluates your condition thoroughly and provides a multifaceted treatment plan to tackle your pain from multiple perspectives.
Prescription and narcotic opioid use in the United States have increased at an alarming rate in the last two decades. Rates of opioid addiction have risen right along with them, leading to the necessity for opiate addiction treatment programs and more effective pain management. As a certified buprenorphine provider and interventional pain physician, Dr. Douglas Allen provides both at New York Pain Medicine.
Since humans rely so much on their spines to turn, bend, and twist, back pain makes it difficult to perform normal activities. The specialists at New York Pain Medicine investigate the cause of your back pain and provide effective treatment. Dr. Douglas Allen coordinates medical interventions like medication and injections, while Dominic Farnan oversees your physical therapy.

A year and a half ago I had a bad episode of herniated L5 S1discs in my back. I could not move for couple of weeks and remained physically incapacitated for a few months. The pain was unbearable and it took a long time to get rid off. But gradually I regained my strength despite of a few relapses along the way and only now, almost two years after the initial episode I feel like I'm back to myself. And with no surgery!
I have many people to thank for that but I definitely owe most of my successful recovery to Dr. Douglas Allen and his staff. Dr Allen gave me three stereoid

I could not disagree more with the first review as my experience with Dr. Sarrica could not have been more different. Marcello is honestly the absolutely best at what he does. I have had lower back issues for the better part of 12 years, and for 12 years I was searching for answers so I could best manage this pain. Along the way, I have tried countless steroid/epidural injections, medications, myofascial/massage therapy, acupuncture (as well as other random Eastern Medicine practices), and physical therapy. I have been to a few different physical therapists in these 12 years, so while Marcello

I would not recommend Marcello Sarrica as a physical therapist. When I first called the office I was told each session would be 30 minutes one on one.
Not once did this happen. Each session for the first 10 minutes and the last 5 minutes Marcello worked with me as well as another patient. During the middle 15 minutes he was for the most part on the computer with his back to me.
And for all this he charged $600 to my insurance company!!!
