The Aldridge Early Learning Center is a growing daycare center located in East Moline, Illinois. For many years it was East Moline's only licensed childcare center. Opening in early 1980, the center had been the vision of Mrs. Florence Aldridge. For many years Mrs. Aldridge worked with elected officials to secure state and federal funds to build the Center.
Hands-on learning at preschool means the children are active learners throughout the day: exploring with materials, learning by doing, moving throughout the classroom, and interacting with one another. The teacher acts as a facilitator- not by telling the children what to do with the materials- but by asking questions that challenge them to use them in new and creative ways.
The Aldridge Early Learning Center is a not-for-profit 501 (c)(3) agency incorporated in the State of Illinois. The Center is governed by an eleven member voluntary Board of Managers. The center's management and team of educational providers believe that each child has strengths that can be enhanced through new learning opportunities.
Help paying for Child Care The Illinois Department of Human Services (IDHS) works with Aldridge Early Learning Center to provide state assistance to families who are Illinois residents, income qualified and in an approved activity such as employment, attending school, . There are new guidelines governing how we operate as we enter into Phase III of the governor's Restore Illinois plan.
A daily, well balanced, mix of activities is important for the healthy development of children. We provide opportunities for children to learn to tie their shoes, to learn to write their names and to discover what happens when you mix the colors red and white. Equally as important is for them to have time to run, jump and use their "outdoor voices".
