Welcome to Summit Lake Lodge, a family owned and operated Alaskan lodge offering premier lodging and dining on the pristine Summit Lake, in the heart of Alaska's Kenai Peninsula. The Lodge exudes a sense of comfort and warmth that allows you to feel right at home while you enjoy the serenity of the mountains and lake.

The beautiful property has 16 spacious guest cabins and 6 charming historic rooms. It is our goal to give a true Alaskan experience without sacrificing the modern conveniences and comforts of home. These folks really know how to take great care of their visitors. It is beautiful, great service, great people.
Services
Originally built in the 1950s, the Lodge sits on the north shores of Summit Lake, nestled into the mountains of the Chugach National Forest. Built as a roadhouse while the Seward Highway was being constructed, the Lodge still has many original features to it. For 60 plus years the big, hand-cut timbers in the main dining room have been holding the Lodge up.
The historic log building features six private rooms, each with their own entrance and bathroom. A large deck is attached and is perfect to relax with other guests while enjoying the mountain views. These rooms are best suited for a one night stay. If you plan on staying multiple nights please treat yourself to a cabin as they are much more comfortable.
With over 30 years of experience and knowledge of the local area, here we have listed out our favorite tours and activities. We are happy to assist you in booking activities and tours to make your Alaska adventure most memorable! The guest is responsible for their own transportation to and from each activity.
Let us take the guess work out of your independent travel itinerary. We have put together these different packages to include tours with the most popular activities in our surrounding area. The dates for these are flexible to make your Alaskan Adventure perfect. Transportation to and from the activities is not included, the guest is responsible for their own transportation.
This package is perfect for people who would like a few guided activities but also want time to explore Alaska on their own. With 3 nights at Summit Lake Lodge you will get to enjoy our hospitality but will also have time to explore a different area of our beautiful state. Experience Kenai Fjords National Park by boat where you will see abundant wildlife and glaciers; a sight-seeing activity that is one of the favorites in the area.

Beautiful lodge by the Summit Lake. You get to do canoeing and kayaking by the lake, if you book the lodge. The breakfast is complimentary and it’s really great. It’s a nice cozy cabin, so make a stop here if you plan to visit Alaska.
Although the lodge is well maintained I think it’s a bit overpriced, mainly because it’s slightly away from the major tourist activities.

We would give Summit Lake Lodge 10 stars if we could! Our stay was fantastic - we got a Inn the Woods Cabin and were blown away by the cleanliness, spacious area, and attention to detail. I travel frequently for work and have seen the good, bad, and everything in between for hotels/lodging. Summit Lake Lodge blows it out of the water. Marty and June are so welcoming and really take the time to make sure you have a great stay. The views and grounds are amazing. Make sure to stop by the Parlor for some ice cream and get the lemon meringue pie flavor, you won't regret it! Thank you, Arnoldy Family

Stayed in the historic room for a night on our way to Anchorage. There was a pungent smell (like sewage) as we checked in to our room. The smell disappeared as we kept the door open for few minutes. However, the smell appeared again in the night and it became unbearable to sleep or stay longer. We were literally waiting for the night to get over so that we could just step out. There was no way to reach out to the front desk so late in the night. To make things worse, guests in the adjacent room were making a lot of noise throughout the night. At one point they just started the bathroom exhaust

Absolutely beautiful spot. The room was really small but it was enough for 2 people to rest after the long day of driving. Owner was really nice and welcoming. We enjoyed complimentary kayaking.

Been stopping off here since I was a kid for ice cream and the occasional meal and it's always been good. My dad knew the owner way back then and I remember long times playing by the very scenic lake as they spoke. It's been years since I was last able to stop by(adult life and going north more often), but made a point of it this trip. Was a shame to see the nice gift shop gone, but Ice cream was still great. Don't know if the Garbage Grinder Burger is still on the menu, but I recommend folks try it if it is.

This was a well cared for property. The lake is pretty. I stayed in a mountain cabin and it had clearly been renovated recently. I’m essentially vegan and don’t do eggs/bacon but breakfast did have a nice oatmeal option. The breakfast crew / ladies were really nice. Really I’m only taking 1 star off because I was told (at check in) wifi would be available at the main building but it was not. When it was up, the connection was so poor as to make it unusable. So if you are expecting to log on to WiFi to modify your trip itinerary or catch up on work emails, it’s not happening. Also good luck

We didn't stay here but we stopped on the way through. This place is super cool. They have a cute restaurant and gift shop/deli. They are situated on Summit Lake and have a great little area with some log benches that look out over the lake and mountains. I would highly recommend stopping!

Wonderful escape with surprisingly gourmet touches

My wife and I booked a room for 1 night on the hottest day of 2021 so far (at least it felt like it!).

We had a little log cabin. And after stashing our stuff in the room had a bit of time to explore before our dinner reservation. We had a fabulous dinner in the restaurant.

We were given warm bread - mmm

We shared a Beet Salad and the New Orleans Pasta with shrimp, chicken and red peppers. Enjoy the lake.

Next morning we enjoyed a fabulous breakfast that was included with the room.

Took a two person kayak out on the

Great find! The room was very quiet and comfortable. The free breakfast was amazing, and the staff were gracious and accommodating hosts. We took a quick paddle around the lake in the morning in their complimentary kayaks. How gorgeous! If we didn’t have to be somewhere else, I would have loved to stay another day or two.

I have seen the behind the scenes of this place and the owners were disgusting. The wife made it a point to make the waitresses cry and the husband simply did not care about the staff. They hire kids that they think will have no choice but to put up with the abuse and they don't care about the people that showed up and sold drugs on property. They did have a good burger called the garbage grinder and they had some decent moosetracks in the souvenir shop.

Super racist. I ended up working here when I was just out of high school. I was basically molested by their waiter from Boston. The owner called me, Chief. It's been a few years, but regardless of the beauty and whatever personnel that makes it great today, that owner is still a pig.

This place has been around for years! Family cabin down the road I got to see this place change over the years. They employ different kinds of people who want to come up to Alaska for a few months to experience summer here. They are open usually Memorial Day to Labor Day. Overall the food here is good. The interior dining room is pretty nice with big windows and high ceilings. They have a variety of food like soups, salads, sandwiches, and burgers. I had a panini which was just ok. Boyfriend had a burger called "everything but the kitchen sink" he liked it. This is a place to stop and

We stumbled onto this place by accident and were pleasantly surprised. The cabin was clean and comfortable, the staff was friendly and helpful. Best of all, they have canoes and kayaks that you can take out on to the beautiful lake for no extra charge. Great way to start the day after the made to order complimentary breakfast.

A lovely little spot between Anchorage andSeward. A full restaurant and bar, and a smaller building with ice cream, some bakery items, and a few gifts. Inviting fireplace lounging and beautiful lake and Mountain views! It's a great spot to stop and stretch your legs, grab a meal or snack, and relax

Summit Lake Lodge is a great stop on your way to and from The Kenai Peninsula or Seward and Anchorage(and North of there) for what I like to call "a pee and a cone". It's simply a good test stop for the restroom on the drive and to grab a snack. They have a ice cream, but also pizza by the slice amongst other quick snacks and a pretty view if you need a longer stop.

Stopped in for lunch - clam chowder tasted like Campbell's that some one added water to - and the spinach dip was probably the worst I've had. Not bad enough to not eat, but just not good. Definitely pre-made/pre-packaged, same with the pita bread. Why even bother trying to church it up by putting Parmesan cheese on it? Chairs are terrible as well.

Stopped here on the way back to Anchorage from Sterling had the forrest pie ala mode. My buddy recommended this place because they used to have a dessert called death by chocolate but no Bueno. The pie was adequate nothing that exciting, ice cream was Ok. Price was $8 which was pricey for the portion that was given. Staff was very nice, view adequate.

Summit Lake Lodge is one of the most gorgeous places I have ever stayed. The views are exactly what you dream of when you dream about a cabin on the lake.

We flew into Anchorage, got a rental car, and made our way to the lodge. The drive is easy and the views along the way are amazing. One of the most picturesque drives you could ask for. The lodge is far enough away to feel like you are out in the wilderness but not far enough away to make it a challenge to get anywhere. We stayed in one of the lakefront cabins and were pretty much happy to just sit on the patio and enjoy the view of the

A very pleasant place to spend a few days. We have stayed here several times. On our visits we reserve a nice lakeside cabin with a great view of Summit Lake. Owners and staff are wonderful, courteous and helpful. Restaurant meals are very good. We stop here for lunch when driving enroute from Soldotna to Anchorage. Canoes and kayaks are free for lodgers. Lots of birds and waterfowl to see; trout are in the lake. There is a State Campground with day-use picnic tables and firepits on the lake, opposite from the lodge; a good place for family to bring logs and gather for an evening fire and cookout

Stayed here 2 nights and had a wonderful experience. Friendly staff, clean rooms, beautiful property. The breakfast is really good and is included in the price of the rooms. We had dinner one night at the restaurant and it was ok, we ordered burgers and they were good but not spectacular.
My only gripe (and it's a tiny one!) is that you can't access wifi from the rooms, you have to walk to the main lodge/lobby to get on wifi. Not a huge big deal though, at least they had it.
The room had a fridge and a microwave which was very appreciated.
I would stay here again for sure!

We stayed at the lodge for one night, so had a chance to have dinner and breakfast. In short, dinner was very meh, but breakfast was good.

Halibut on salad greens was very ordinary - shamefully small hunk of fish on plain greens. Caesar salad was good, coconut prawn appetizer was also good although the dipping sauce was not.

Breakfast options were good. The eggs with reindeer sausage (large portion) were good, as was the omelet.

There are of course very few options on Seward highway, so it's hard to be picky - just reporting the facts.
