The Heckart family proudly served the Sedalia community for 70 years. Our rich history began in 1918 when Ernest Gillespie founded the Gillespie Funeral Home. Mr. Gillespie believed that personal and professional service, quality merchandise, a modern facility and fair prices would create a desire for his services.
Most funeral homes offer the same burial and cremation services, but there are several things that set us apart. We call it. Sedalia's only crematory. Your loved one never leaves our personal care and will not be transported to another town. The Heckart Family Center, a place to have funeral dinners or a unique celebration of life.
Jeff was raised in Otterville, MO, and is a graduate of Otterville R-VI School. He began working for Heckart right out of high school. He is a 2003 graduate of the Kansas City Kansas Community College School of Mortuary Science. He also attended Northwest Missouri State University for business management.

Heckart Funeral Home announces today that Ewing-Schutte-Semler Funeral Home is now part of Heckart Funeral Home. The purchase includes all business records and pre-arranged funeral plans in place with Ewings since its beginning in 1935. Ewing Funeral Home was founded by Duane and Beulah Ewing and for the last many years has been owned by various out-of-state corporations.
