John Hancock High School
Opened in 1999 as an elementary school, Hancock has evolved into a high school providing innovative programs focusing on college preparation, community service and leadership. Hancock's warm and engaging environment enables teachers to focus on developing students who embody integrity, knowledge and character.

Hancock fosters leadership skills and facilitates community involvement, with a variety of opportunities and programs designed to help students discover and develop their academic potential and contribute to their community.
Services
When I first joined the Hancock family as an English teacher in 2009, I was excited to have an opportunity to work with students and families in the same community where I grew up. Throughout these past ten years, I have had the pleasure of watching Hancock blossom into a thriving school community.
Hancock has dedicated itself to implementing a school-wide program for imbedding service learning in a purposeful way throughout the curriculum in various departments. This approach assures that students are exposed to multiple opportunities each year of high school.

Across and throughout every department you will find teachers constructing and implementing curriculum in their regular classroom and then extending the classroom experience to a clearly connected outside service learning project.
Are you an 8th grader interested in attending Hancock for the 2022-2023 school year? Doors will open at 8:45 a.m. Please enter through the main entrance on 64th Place. Pre-registration is not necessary, but all participants must review the CPS Health Screener checklist before entering the building, and all entrants must wear a mask.
There will be no in person summer bootcamp this summer. Also, for most AP classes, you will need to contact your future teacher to get access to summer work. SOME of the work on this website is NOT for this summer, so pay attention to the year. Otherwise, you can always look at last year' work to get an idea of what the course is about.
This is a an opportunity for students to take a college course while still enrolled at Hancock. Chicago Public Schools. Students do not pay tuition, thus providing students with opportunities to earn real college credit while still enrolled in high school! Dual-Enrollment courses are offered at the city college campus.

The school is ok but they can do a better job in communicating to parents those students still minor they can't decide for them we are the parents. We paid for the needs. They have better communication. To the parents it will be a better school. I just put a star because it doesn't let me finish my review no star for me

If I can rate this without any stars, than I would definitely do that. It is terrible, the students are immature and rude. The teachers don't give a care about the students, yes, there are some that actually teach and act like teachers, but for the most part...Just because you have a degree doesn't make you a great teacher.
