Route 66 Cafe strives to bring comfort food of the contemporary American cuisine to the next level, with emphasis on fresh, quality ingredients. Located near theater district and Lincoln Center, on 9th Ave. between 55th and 56th St.,w e offer breakfast, lunch, brunch, dinner, and full bar with bar menu.
Kids menu, and lunch, and dinner specials are available daily. I have been getting food from Route 66 for many years, and they provide high quality food and generous portions. They always listen to requests made on the delivery order, such as extra ketchup or pickles. They are a well managed, seasoned operation and true survivors of New Yorks restaurant wars.

The food is just ok. Especially with the basics such as eggs, burrito etc. which I usually get when I'm here. The best thing about this place is that it has space on the street in a nice enclosure if a group would prefer to be outside. It's a convenient spot if you're in the neighborhood and really need a place to sit quickly. The team is nice and professional.
On the downside, the fixed brunch menu which we ordered from this latest time around, is quite sub-par. I was quite disappointed with the chicken & waffles. The chicken pieces were cheap fried nuggets and the waffles

For start ....this place has set up a number of really safe options for eating under cover conditions. We initially stopped (we were wandering around looking for breakfast) because of the variety of safe seating options. Then we pulled up the reviews and said "okay why not try eating here?" It seemed a little weird to go to a bar and grill for breakfast, but we are so glad we stopped.
Breakfast here is wonderful. It was good, straight forward breakfast food! The options were good, and the serving sizes are more than generous. The first day we stopped we were hungry and simply

Love this cool, hip, trendy restaurant. Highly recommend their Caesar salad's, and chicken tortilla soup (highly recommend)
Dining here for over 20 plus years, and so has my family whom lives in the neighborhood. The food is made fresh to order, they use high quality ingredients. The chef here are always amazing.
The atmosphere is lovely, cozy, and quant.
The staff are very friendly, the Owners are absolutely amazing. Love coming here after a Broadway show, or an event at the Lincoln Center.
If you visit during the summer months the restaurant is open, there is outdoor seating.

This neighborhood bar & grill was a great find but the food & service made this evening stop for dinner even better. They offer outside sidewalk dining, but this was a humid evening in early August so, inside dinning it was. This cozy, yet comfortable eatery with the iconic Route 66 theme seemed perfect to us. The menu offers a little something for everyone's taste, the drink and wine list were appealing and the smoothies are amazing! My tastebuds beckoned the Banana/Strawberry smoothie for a pre-meal appetizer, then I had the house salad with dressing and moving on to main course

Average Hell's Kitchen bar with great happy hour specials! $6 draft beers and $8-9 wine, margs, mojitos and well drinks! Drinks were super strong! They have outdoor and indoor seating available and a small bar with 4-5 seats. Happy hour snacks for $9 are also available. I had the chicken tenders and nachos which were average. They use that fake syrupy cheese that you'd get at a stadium over the chips. Service was attentive and pleasant. For a Thursday afternoon, there were plenty of seats for happy hour! Wouldn't go running back but it's a good neighborhood option

I have been back here many times since. They have a homemade New England Clam Chowder that is simply delicious. It's filling, tastes great, smells, great. The best way to eat it is on cold day...it really sticks to your ribs. The best part was eating that soup on cold days sitting outside during COVD when eating indoors wasn't legal. The wait staff is great, too. The person who served me was named Ina. She was awesome. Always there. Always friendly. Always took care of me. The Irish Coffees were tall, strong, and hot and also great on cold days.

By far the best restaurant of our trip to NYC. Amazing selection on the menu, great prices and the service was outstanding. This restaurant is located in Hell's Kitchen and is an excellent spot for people watching. They have a nice happy hour from 5:30 to 7 and the drinks are worth the price. We took our 8 ur old grandson and he really enjoyed his meal. He did not eat off the kids menus, which is traditional kids fare. They really dressed up his "Shirley Temple" and that made him feel special. Highly recommend this restaurant for an excellent meal and wide variety on the menu.

The food they have at 66 bar and Grill is typical food what I call Americana food which was perfect for the occasion of light diner.

My hubby had pancakes with bacon. He expressed to me that the pancakes were very tasty with

We stopped by for happy hour which was delicious. They had an $18 burger and beer deal which is amazing. It was essentially a dollar for the beer at this pricing. We chose the express burger which was topped with bacon. It was juicy and delicious. The fries were crispy which I liked as well.
We also got their nachos. It came with generous toppings especially the guac. The cheese tasted a little funky...overly artificial like boxed cheese but overall still a filling and yummy dish.
I also got their happy hour mijito for $6. It was also a great deal considering how strong their drinks are. I couldn

Thank you for making us feel like part of your family on New Years Eve! We walked in 5 minutes before midnight on NYE after leaving a less than stellar experience. You made our night! We loved our experience & appreciate your hospitality.
I would highly recommend checking out Route 66. Great food, craft cocktails, amazing champagne, loved the espresso Martini's & superb service! Thank you Eric and the Route 66 family! You made our launch into 2020 so special!

Nice find! Lunch specials come with fries and soup. Huge portions. The lentil soup was excellent. Tasted homemade. The Reuben panini was good - per my companions. I enjoyed the greek chicken on pita with salad. So much food. One beer (in my case a Stella) per order are $3 at lunch time. Really enjoyed the food. Service was prompt.

Very much an okay place. I put in an extremely basic order, which should represent the quality of the place since it was so simple. Two bagels with cream cheese to go.
I get into the car, open the bag, and both bagels are cut in half with Philadelphia Cream Cheese sides for me to put on myself. It was $8 for this order. I would understand if I ordered this from a hole in the wall cafe or a mini mart or even a Starbucks... but you're a restaurant and you can't even put the cream cheese on the bagel? The bagels were toasted on the grill so they had a buttery taste, which threw off the

Walked by the other night and stopped in my tracks when I noticed a TV commercial for Hadestown on the flatscreens inside the dining room at Route 66. Clearly this was the universe telling me to sit mfa down and enjoy a chicken panini.
Pleasant and professional staff. This place has a cool vibe and the food is delicious. We got to sit outside, which was also pretty cool.
Check this place out! They're open pretty late, and happy hour is from 3-7. Glad I happened by!

I have ordered from Route 66 Bar and Grill twice for delivery and both times they have delivered on time. I've ordered the Caesar salad without croutons. The dressing it comes with tastes great. The romaine lettuce is fresh and has a nice crunch. I appreciate that the lettuce is chopped bite-size as it should be. The cheese is freshly shaved. The salad itself is a nice portion size for $11.50. Worth it. I will continue to be a repeat.
Update!
I ordered a Route 66 Express Burger with waffle fries and a Caesar salad as usual. Wow the burger was delicious! So filling. Didn't know the waffle

Route 66 Cafe is your basic glorified local diner. That said, you have to go in with the right expectations. I've visited several times for weekend brunch or a casual bite to eat for dinner and have had a pleasant experience every time I've gone.
A quick lesson: Most NYC "diner" style restaurants don't have amazing service, both usually have a large menu offering an eclectic variety of entrees with all sorts of proteins.
Route 66 serves big portions at somewhat reasonable prices. If you order from their brunch menu, it includes one brunch juice or alcoholic beverage

I came here without a reservation with a group of 5 friends and we were seated immediately. The booth seating was comfortable and the interior decor had cool silver balls of different sizes on the ceiling. There were floor to ceiling windows in the front, brick walls, brown tables and yellow/blue accents. It had a casual feel.
After being seated, we were given complimentary muffins and pastries, which was great. There were bran muffins and corn muffins and the pastries had sweet cheese and apple or berry fillings. The corn muffins were nice and moist and the pastries were wonderfully sweet.

Came here for a bite to eat while waiting for an item and all the nearby restaurants were crowded.
The restaurant is mid-sized, clean and it was packed. There were 4 2-people hightop tables by the wall. Unfortunately, we needed a table for four. The waiting area is a bit narrow especially with customers waiting and others trying to exit or delivery guys passing by. After about 15 minutes, we were seated.
The waitress gave us a complimentary plate of muffins. It isn't warm but it was good to stave off hunger.
