Services
Karate probably had its beginning with the pre-historic man out of need to defend himself from his enemies, i.e., other men or animals. Pre-historic man survived and evolved, which serves as evidence that his fighting system in defending himself was successful in the era before and coinciding with the development of weapons.
After School Karate program is not an aftercare program. We are a premiere martial arts program. Enrollees participate in karate classes, in pursuit of the ultimate goal of achieving the rank of black belt. Enrollees must participate in karate classes (included) and belt testing (at an extra cost) to advance from rank to rank.
The Family Karate class is challenging and exciting, teaching basic blocks, strikes, kicks, punches and stances. Students learn Japanese Okinawan forms (kata) of the Yoshukai International Karate system and sparring techniques with a blend of European Kickboxing. Class is led by Sensei Mike Smith and assisted by his certified black belts, experienced in teaching and competition.
If you live in Rockledge, FL or the surrounding areas (Melbourne, Viera, Suntree, Cocoa, Merritt Island) and need a safe, fun and educational place for your kids this summer then look no further! The MAS Summer Program not only improves your child's strength, agility, speed and endurance, but your child gets to feel like a super hero, while they burn off excess energy and get fit and healthy.
Belt testing is a very individual thing. Beginners may test as often as 4 times per year. The higher you go in belt rankings, the less frequently you will test. Advanced students may only test 1-2 times per year. Only students who have met minimum attendance requirements and have the recommendation of an Instructor will be considered for belt promotion.

Not safe transportation. Yesterday, their transportation van tried to turn from the turning lane directly into my vehicle on Fiske after school (3:24 pm). The van was full of children and the driver proceeded to laugh and let out a small horn tap after three cars laid on their horns because I was having to swerve into the other lane to avoid being hit. If I hadn’t been paying attention there definitely would have been an accident.

We are so grateful to have found them! Was pressed to find an after school care solution on short notice and was told to check out the "karate bus". I figured we'd try it out, but was not expecting much. We are two months in now and I cannot say enough good things about them. My kids are 7 and 9 and we have noticed such positive changes in their attitudes, respectfulness, willingness and desire to help, responsibility, and level of committment. Mr. Smith and his staff converse and interact with them as real people and they are really thriving on it. The staff are patient and helpful with nervous

This place has been the biggest blessing for my 9 year old. She started the after school program almost 4 years ago. The studio was close to the place where we used to live back than. We moved further almost 3 years ago and since than we still travel 5 days per week for 40 minutes just so our daughter can keep up with the program. It’s her second home! So much so, that she doesn’t even want to tell us when she is sick...because God forbid she misses a day at the studio!😊
I have no words to express our gratitude to MAS. It is such a stable and rare combination of true love and discipline

I have been going to the same program for 20 years, was a class manager & an instructor in another state. I have never had a problem like this, especially in the first two weeks.
This was a brand new venue, in an industrial area, for my class and was my first day there.
I'm a 5' tall small female almost 60 years old. I was at the trunk of my car when two men came around the corner of the building and stood at the door. One had tattoos covering both arms. I waited for them to move away while I was getting my things.
A female I knew came out and said that the African American man was the owner

Mr Smith walks the walk like he wants his students to do! At the Blitz awards ceremony an award was missed by the presenters. A 10 year old first year 'fighter' should have been awarded on stage with her MAS classmates. After the presentation Mr Smith awarded her his plaque until hers comes in. THAT is the sort of professional, giving, dedicated attitude that will impress her in her future! Thanks, Mr Smith for being a great role model!

I have a child that has been going to MAS for years. He loves it and I can't say enough good things about the staff. Karate has taught him discipline, manners and how to be a team player. Their school after-care program is great. They have a tutor on site should your child need one. They have a homework room. They provide camp days on Holidays and summer camp. Summer camp is filled with lots of things to do....field trips, trips to the park, the movies, swimming just to mention a few. I would highly recommend MAS as a safe and fun place for your child.
