Braces use constant, gentle pressure, which over time, move teeth into their proper positions. Your braces are at work every moment of your orthodontic treatment. The two main components of your braces are the brackets that are placed on your teeth and the main archwire that connects them. The bracket is a piece of shaped metal or ceramic that we affix to each tooth.
Invisalign straightens teeth to give you the confidence of a great smile. Using a series of clear, virtually invisible aligners, Invisalign gently and gradually moves your teeth based on the treatment plan prescribed by your orthodontist. And, there are no wires or brackets so you'll have confidence in your smile during and after treatment.
It is usually difficult for you to determine if treatment is necessary because there are many problems that can occur even though the front teeth look straight. Also, there are some problems that look intimidating and complex, which will resolve on their own. Asking your general dentist is a good reference, but we are your best resource since orthodontics is all we do.

TERRIBLE. Keep in mind that the entire experience below took less than five minutes...

I recently had a consultation with Dr. Karnavas for a new retainer. My mouth is very small and my bite is very tight, so I am unable to use standard impression trays to have molds made of my teeth. (I know this after visiting King Orthodontics earlier in the year and having no luck with even his smallest/pediatric trays.) Therefore, before I went to Karnavas' office, I purchased a bunch of foam fluoride trays that dentists use for her to JUST TRY. I understood they might not work, but I figured there was

I did not have a good experience with this office. The work was done incorrectly, billed incorrectly, and the staff was less than friendly. Every appointment resulted in extremely long wait times and lasted minutes. During the "consultation", no options were discussed and the doctor made one recommendation without going into detail about the procedure other than the cost. As for my experience with the doctor, she was to put it bluntly, rude.

I would STRONGLY recommend visiting multiple orthodontists. Many will spend 45 minutes to an hour with you and discuss your options and alternatives

Note: She also has offices in Oakmont (412-828-3223) and Cranberry (724-742-3232).

I started going to her Dormont office to get braces as per a referral from Dr. Kyros in Brookline.

My teeth went every which way but loose. My eye teeth jutted out, looking like fangs!!! That was in November of 2005.

As soon as Dr. Karnavas saw the inside of my mouth, she exclaimed "You have AWESOME teeth! I can totally help you." It was as if she was a director who found her muse or something.

In April of 2008, the braces came off and my teeth were straight and looking great for the first time
