One decade ago, the Marlborough Board of Trustees established a thoughtful set of goals for the future of the school through a strategic plan entitled The Next Ten Years at Marlborough 2010-2020.
The plan spoke to four key areas and outlined objectives that would guide the school's work in preparing students for the future, ensuring the long-term strength of the school, developing bold and visionary leaders, and engaging with the broader community outside of Marlborough.

In 1888, a young teacher from Maine, newly widowed and accompanied by her young daughter and niece, traveled across the country to relocate to California and start a new life. Within two months of her arrival in Los Angeles, Mary Caswell founded what would soon become Marlborough School, now the oldest independent girls' school in Southern California.
As we work towards our aspirational vision for a future where Equity Leads Education, we must imbue equity and inclusion as habits of mind into our community ethos, as well as commit to the daily, uncompromising, and ongoing work it will take to bring about meaningful, measurable, and sustainable change.
Marlborough is an independent, college-preparatory day school for girls in grades 7-12, and enrolls students from over 100 different public and independent elementary schools in the greater Los Angeles area. They really don't know what to do for bright and talented girls who also have special needs like ADD or being on the autism spectrum disorder. They are so accustomed to not accommodating wealthy family pressure to treat someone differently that they seem completely unable to meet medical/mental/developmental accommodation requirements. College counselors are extremely resourceful, and the library/ARC is truly wonderful, but the upper school experience is high stress nevertheless. If your child has anxiety, this is NOT a good place for her.
