World War II had an effect on every facet of American life. Nothing was immune to what the war could influence, and the lives of Garfield High School students were no less subject to its harsh realities. Not even old enough to vote, these students had to maneuver through normal high school events like classes, homework, friendships, homecoming, prom, and sports, but were still faced with the many uncertainties a world war set before them.
The Catherine Jones Library of Garfield High School contains a great collection of yearbooks, photos, artifacts and many other items, chronicling the history of this school. It is an amazing array through which one is able to glimpse the past of the school and its many generations of students and faculty.
Over the years, an incredible number of items have been sent to us from Garfield High School alumni, and the family of alumni. While all of these items are special to us, some stand out because of the item's unique ability to shed light on the past of this school. We are entirely grateful to those who have sent us so much and thus allow us to peer into and understand better the direction the school has travelled throughout its many years.
Beginning with World War II, Garfield High School students have served in a number of our nation's wars. As a school, we have created these pages to honor those Garfield students who gave their lives in defense of their country and the ideals for which the United States of America stands.
It is important to remember the men and women of the United States Armed Forces who have fallen in the line of duty, sacrificing their lives to protect the highest of ideals, and to preserve our safety from enemies both near and abroad. As of yet, we have been unable to ascertain any losses suffered by Garfield students on the battlefields of Lebanon, Grenada, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Somali, Persian Gulf, Afghanistan or Iraq.

I graduate in 2005 One of my best experiences was with the auto shop classes with Mr. Villarreal. I learned my basic automotive skills there with him and also learned how to start Metal Welding Skills.I moved out of East LA. in towards the middle of the United States now I’m trucking with a class a commercial drivers license. Thanks for all your support and your knowledge Mr. Villarreal.
Keep up the good work it was a pleasure being one of your students class of 2005

The school offers many oppurtunities for an individual to grow and find out what their passions are, it is very accepting of anyone's unique preferences, and the teachers will work with you to make sure you stay on track and graduate. It is a very well-known school with many benefits such as AP classes, extracurricular activities, and events that will really help anyone enjoy their time in high school. Overall I loved my experience here and I highly recomend it for those trying to further their education and career.

I attended this high school. If you're not part of the magnet program or take AP classes, for the most part the teachers are a joke. The sport program is decent, however there is favoritism. Security sucks. They have old ladies guarding the entrances and let all the people that look like parents in.

GARFIELD CLASS OF 17
Garfield is the best place to be at, it has good admin, awesome teachers especially from special Ed, this place I really love, this is better school. The movie stand and deliver is a great movie, I seen it but not all the movie, they have great pe teachers but they push you to do the best and do better in the future. And all the teachers push you to be the best in the future. I will visit this school. Often and whenever I have time to go visit my high school teachers. Want to go back in 2013😢. The fun times with friends during lunch. When I was a senior about to graduate
