I am nearing the end of my first week at Gibsons Fitness Center. I joined after leaving a larger gym where we had belonged for many years. Gibsons is reasonably priced for what it has to offer. The gym itself is clean and they have employees cleaning throughout the day. The child watch center is small but looks to accommodate children of a young age with capable staff. The machines are in decent working order and while not the newest models provide safe access to many cardio activities. The weight room is busy and active with enough space for many patrons to accomplish goals at the same time. I

This is a a truly fantastic gym. I want to be clear, I am a simple guy. I want some treadmills and weights. The facility sometimes gets a little beat up by people who don't put their weights back or are not particularly cordial when it comes to cleaning the equipment after they use it. No worries, they do have people going through cleaning up on regular basis. If you want more than simple, this is also a great gym. There are many classes with great instructors (I'm looking at you Melanie!)

Go local! This is a classic example of the benefits of going local and avoiding the big box big chain operations.
There was a significant initial wrinkle with my membership at Gibson's, but because I found the right person to talk with, there was a rapid and amicable resolution.
This is not something you can find most other places today.
I truly trust that Gibson's will try to help anyone who is willing to try.

This gym is so much bigger than I expected. From the front of the store, it doesn't look like much, but they actually have 2 floors, and a small 3rd level with equipment.
I like the gym because it's home town friendly. The staff is really friendly, and I noticed the owner knows many people by name. Being the only gym in town, I run into friends all the time (I guess this can be good and bad). There is a nice selection of group classes as well. They also make smoothies which are delicious.
My only qualm, I keep getting these emails about how they haven't seen me in the gym in a

I have been a member of various gyms for years, and I cannot say enough good things about Gibson's. Their equipment is almost all new and is all well-maintained. They have a large variety of different strength training equipment and free weights, as well as your requisite cardio stuff. The locker rooms are clean and roomy. There are a number of flat-screen TVs in each of the different exercise areas, although in an amusing twist, it's pretty much impossible to see them from most machines.

The atmosphere is definitely small town friendly, and given that most gyms take your money and let you alone, this is good. The owner is approachable, listens to your feedback and makes regular investments in equipment. He even remembers clients names. The front desk staff is friendly and helpful. The group exercise schedule has a wide variety of class workout sessions to choose from. The floor has all the usual suspects of gym equipment from free weights to treadmills. I think what sets this gym apart from others is the staff responsiveness, from the owner through the trainers. Definitely

Pretty much the only game in town, although I believe Lou Ferrigno's brother owns an exercise equipment store down the road so you could probably build your own gym if you wanted to...
Decent size, and quite a bit of redundant functioning machines, which is good when it gets a little crowded. Most of the time I'm there really early, and it's not very busy which is good. Weekdays they technically open at 5am, but the owner's there starting around 4am so you can totally get an early start. Lots of cardio equipment, a lot of new stuff in the front room, and some older stuff in
