Began applying fees to my account. Staff would not answer phone. Would not return voicemails. Emails resulted in delay warnings and bounce backs. Eventually received instructions to prevent further fees and followed them. No confirmation. Same communication issues. Closed my account after racking up fees. CS acknowledged long history of emails on their side, and communication issues, but refused to refund fees even though they admit NY State recommended refund. Predatory outdated fee structure. Poor customer service. Unreliable staff and communication. Bank elsewhere.

I had an excellent experience securing a PPP Covid-19 business loan with the NYU Federal Credit Union. The staff was extremely helpful, responsive and quick in submitting my loan application. The loan is very important to my small, photography business and I was approved in 24 hours. Thank you NYU Federal Credit Union!!!

We have never, ever had as good an experience at any bank as our recent experience with the NYU FCU. We turned to the NYU FCU for help obtaining a Payroll Protection Program Loan from the Small Business Administration due to the Coronavirus pandemic. We are a small, but busy, well-established medical office. We spent a lot of the month of March providing free medical care. Our income during this pandemic does not cover our employees' salaries, let alone our rent and other bills. After hearing that the NYU FCU was willing to help medical offices of doctors affiliated with NYU, we sent an

It is sad that a company that has a limited number of ATM's (also with limited opening hours) would charge for ATM withdrawals at other CO-OP network ATM's.
I have been a member of the NYUFCU for many years and like the fact that I can withdraw money from most McDonald's, Citibank and 7 Eleven ATM's. I recently checked my bill and saw several $1 charges for withdrawals from ATM's I have been using for years. I called NYUFCU and spoke to a representative who said that after 6 ATM withdrawals I would be charged for each additional withdrawal. I see numerous places on the website that advertise the

I’ve been a member for 10 years here, and truly miss the old staff. Everyone used to care and knew your name now it's changing faces and grimaces when you expect the good ole days back. I’ve noticed that the newer office makes it quite difficult to access your funds as needed, outside of the odd business hours, and the bank’s managerial staff are distant to say the least when you need actual assistance. I would complain further about how the online banking took 2 weeks to set up properly and cost me bank fees for negligence performed on behalf of the bank, BUT it won't ever get me the money

Balance update was delayed (it took them longer to register checks then it was supposed to take, it happens) and when this led to going minimally below zero they started slapping penalties one over the other. I restored the balance immediately but they did not want to even hear about canceling those penalties even though they acknowledged they erroneously applied them multiple times and delayed the balance update. Customer service was really unpleasant. They lost a member that day. If you are looking for a credit union that does not deploy predatory practices, I recommend to look elsewhere.

I am very pleased with the overall services that the credit union provides. I went there last year to obtain a loan and was approved within 48 hours and was able to meet one-on-one with staff to discuss the terms. The credit union definitely feels very membership oriented/driven. In addition, I am very pleased with the new website!

If I could give zero stars I would. This place is awful. I opened a savings account which is supposedly free if you maintain a minimum balance. I have more than the minimum balance and they still have charged me a monthly fee even after I have told them about this numerous times.
At the same time, I opened a mortgage loan with them and they are the worst! They don't answer any of your questions, they don't give you updates on where you are in the process. Mira Ness has zero customer service skills nor does she know what she is doing. She is extremely rude and will try to charge you

I created an account with NYUFCU in anticipation of getting a home loan. As a first time buyer, I had a lot of questions and needed help.
After meeting with NYU credit union officials and filling out a ton of paperwork, I got a call from some random guy at the United Nations credit union. The NYUFCU gave all of my paperwork to the United Nations Credit Union without my permission! The UNFCU then wanted me to fill out a new set of applications.
It was a sketchy and untrustworthy move by NYUFCU. I ended up working with one of the big banks and got my mortgage.
I was deceived and frustrated

I joined NYU Federal Credit Union nearly two years ago when I started as an adjunct at Tisch. Credit Unions in general, as non-profits, have always had a great reputation with me.
I also thought that down the road when I potentially became ready to look into homeownership in NYC, it might be a great place to get a mortgage.
On that last point, 5 stars to NYU FCU. We met with Mira Ness who was helpful, communicative and above all human in an industry that is so often bound by policy. While it's not the right time for us to buy yet, Mira assisted in showing us the lay of the land financially

My boyfriend and I have been members of the NYU FCU for about a year now, and we've been consistently impressed with them. Their entire staff is courteous and professional, and we've never waited long for an appointment or on a phone call. We recently had a meeting with Mira Ness, their CEO, about applying for a home mortgage loan, and she patiently walked us through the process and thoroughly reviewed our income, savings and assets to give us a clear picture of what we can afford within different parameters. There was no slick-mortgage-broker BS, simply personal customer service. We

For the foreigners who are not used to this system: This is NOT a bank. A Credit Union seems like a bank, appears to provide most of the services of a bank, but it isn't and it doesn't. The staff is nice, so I suffered their incompetence and limited service for almost one year. My card took forever to arrive, got lost twice. One time, a card I didn't ask for arrived out of the blue. I had to carry 3 cards so maybe one of them would work. Every single time I was out of the US, it got blocked (they were duly warned beforehand of the travel), while someone used its info to buy tires in Philly (a place

I love NYUFCU!! They're really committed to great customer service. Mira Ness is amazing! Super helpful and responsive. NYUFCU helped me get rid of my credit card debt that was dragging down my credit score and killing my pockets with those stupid minimum payments. I recently canceled my membership at the credit union due to its changes in service, ancient technology, and the horrible attitude of CEO Mira Ness. I have had my credit union account for five years and have seen the transitions it has undergone. I thought with its move from its old location the credit union would begin to flourish, but I was wrong. It definitely has to do with its CEO Mira Ness. She is a very nasty woman. She does not know how to speak to her customers and she is extremely disrespectful. There was a time I came in requesting information regarding a mortgage. She seemed as she

I am happy that as an NYU alumni I had the opportunity to open an account at NYU FCU. I have received great customer care over the years at the credit union and feel that the staff has always been very attentive to my questions and concerns. Whenever I have had an urgent matter they have worked with me even beyond expectations to find a way to help. It's nice to get to know the staff by their first name and they know you as well. There are also untold perks - such as the discounted city bike membership! It's worth giving the credit union a try - in just a few years I have seen many positive

Just canceled my account at the NYU Federal Credit Union (FCU), an action that was way overdue. Why? Well, because of 1) An outdated and clunky website that's difficult to navigate; 2) Non-competitive interest rates, which translated into dismal returns for my savings account; and lastly, but most importantly 3) Terrible customer service. I'm speaking specifically of the receptionists/front desk reps who staff the banking center and are often the first point of contact for customers.

Highly impressed with structure and services offered as a credit union. Compared to other Credit Unions I have been a member of, NYU Credit Union is tops. I'm glad I introduced myself based on the merits of the information online and meeting and working with the staff 1st before going to Yelp.
All of my experiences have been top-rated. The website was easy to navigate and answered my questions so I could make an informed decision. Any questions were easily answered when I called.
Front desk opened my account smoothly and explained services easily and throughly.

I opened an account here and was basically underwhelmed by lack of service. Their app for remote deposit doesn't work, their hours are lousy.
I started getting notices about fees if I did not have enough activity (which is interesting considering how hard it is to access any service here) and closed my account soon after.
I like the idea of being part of an FCU affiliated with NYU and would probably give them another chance if I understood that there was a vast improvement in service and policies, but as it stands I am staying away until and unless I hear that there's been a significant

After 28 years with another University's Federal Credit Union, I made the mistake of assuming these guys would all be equally awesome. Boy was I ever wrong. The priorities here are all messed up. Customer service is at the bottom of the heap. If you dont access your account for a while, they fine you 10 bucks a month. This is usury, plain and simple, except that they are not lending me money, I'm lending them money. in my case it essentially was the equivalent of ME paying THEM 15% interest to keep my money for a year.

If I could rate this bank any lower, I would. I have gone to this bank to deposit cash multiple times only to be met with attitude and "you can deposit your money at the ATM" once I was finally seen. If someone had even asked me what I was trying to deposit before they quickly brushed me off, they would have known that my transaction also involved change and not just bills.
Also, this bank closes at 3pm on the dot and everyone has an attitude if you show up one minute later. They will sit on the other side of the glass and pretend that they don't see you until you finally walk away
