Nothing is more important in the marine repair and boat business than experience. Tom Papesh, owner of York Road Marine, has been in the marine business for more than 30 years. Moving in his early 20s from Ohio to St. Petersburg, Florida, he quickly realized - living in a city surrounded on three sides by water - that boating and the enjoyment it brought was an integral part of his new home.

With that knowledge in mind he started his own mobile marine repair business, and learned that using quality products and not cutting corners resulted in satisfied customers. After 15 years with Mastry the opportunity to go out on his own presented itself, and in 1999 he and his wife Misty and son Brent moved to Pine Island and into the life of a business owner.

Called this place today - spoke with a salesman by the name of kieth…interesting gentleman he was ! I asked about a boat they have listed on boat trader , by his response , it was clear this gentleman was not a “hustler” . It was as if I was bothering him to do his job - this place is 4hrs away, I wanted to gather info, before driving that distance - not unreasonable ?
I actually said to kieth , if you’re not interested in dealing with me, tell me because it seams you’re not very interested in answering questions - I had to listen to him ramble about having to do 3 sea trials and how

I wish I could give more stars. Tom the owner is always at hand to talk to customers and make sure you are taken care of. He is very knowledgeable in all aspects of the marine industry and any problems you encounter he gives you an honest answer. Technicians all have Manufacturer certifications and have been there for years.

The first time our boat went in they clearly didn’t water test our boat as we tried to take it out and it didn’t run properly. After about 5 months we finally got our boat back. The transom was covered in mold too, we definitely will not be using York Marine again ! Typically I’m not one to post negative things about places, but I wouldn’t want anyone to deal with the hassle and the extreme amount of time it takes to get your boat back. I would rate 1/2 or no star, but in order to post a review you have to give at least one.

This is the worst possible place that you could ever bring your boat to be repaired they are known all over the city for being con artist and scammers. When I was new to the island I didn't know this and I brought my boat in for a simple repair motor was running fine and the only thing was it wasn't turning over from the ignition they told me that I needed a battery cable and verbally quoted me a very high price I said no, then they called me back and said they do it for half that price so I gave in and said OK. It took them about a month. They replaced the new battery cable when I asked

I would have to agree with Paul M. I went to York Road Marine for a simple repair job and Brad quoted us one price and said it would be done in a week. 4 weeks later and no boat, we listen to every lie that came out of Brad's mouth as to why the repair job was taking so long. Every time we stop to ask when the repair would be done it was a new lie. Once the repairs were competed and paid for, and like Paul M our bill was triple the quoted price, it was another 2 weeks before they would give us our boat back. Again every time we went to pick the boat up Brad lied to us, and gave us some sort of

Sorry to see other people had a bad experience here just as I did.
When a customer brings a car to a dealer for a repair and they get charged at a rate of $125 an hour and it’s because the technicians are highly trained and the facility cost a fortune to put together. It’s expensive but justified.
Now here at York Road Marine they also charge $125 an hour. However, the technicians here aren’t worth the minimum wage they are being paid. The owner is making a fortune using this type of unqualified worker, the job interview must have been ‘could you spell boat?’ If they answered half of

I have heard a lot of bad reviews about this Marina I had an emergency with my vessel and was directed to Brad the manager in the service department. Guess you can really only expect that this kind of service still exist in a Small Town Marina... Brad went so far beyond the Call of Duty especially when he was already overwhelmed and under pressure that I will always be grateful .. if you're in a jam you get broke down anywhere have us boats bring to them...Thanks Brad...Captin of the Naked Turtle..

I just had York Marine do a decent size job on my boat for me and I couldn't be happier. Brad and his crew more than exceeded my expectations. He kept me informed the whole process and more than delivered what he quoted. I am new to the boating lifestyle but I can promise you that no one else will ever work on my boat but York Marine. Great job guy's.

Great service, quality work. I've taken my boat to York Road for my Yamaha f70 20 and 100 hour services and have been very pleased. Both visits, the guys were very thorough and explained the service clearly. Definitely will be returning for my next scheduled service.

Bad service, horrible experience. Brought my 2004 Proline 22 WA in for a tune up (100 hr) and for bottom paint. When I returned to get my boat, it looked like the techs did not take any care when working on my boat. Greasy footprints, hand prints, rags and all sorts of debris in on on my boat. they did attempt to clean it while I waited, but I'm still scrubbing grease stains. I then took the boat home via the near by waterways. Approximately 20 minutes after leaving the York dock my low oil alarm started to go off, so I limped back to my house at idle and called York to see what was

After living in Florida for years, we decided to take full advantage of what our area has to offer and get a boat. After much research, we decided on a Bayliner Element. The closest Bayliner dealer to us was York Road Marine. We drove over to check out what they had. Everyone at the marina was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. They had a nice selection of Element's in stock to choose from and asked the right questions to ensure we were getting a boat that was a good fit us.

We selected a boat and came to an agreement. There was never any pressure. We picked up the boat a few days later

BEWARE!!
Recently I had the opportunity to get a first hand dose of their "service" after being towed there by Sea Tow. A minor problem kept 'getting worse' as my wallet got lighter and lighter. They promised the boat would be finished 'this week' for 8 weeks in a row. I finally had to threaten to just haul the boat away as is before they proclaimed it finished. When I picked it up, it was filfhty. Rust stains from tools, grease, new gouges in the gel coat etc. But the real kicker was that I made it less than 4 miles away before I had to get towed again---but to
