Services
Pearce Community Center is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing access to athletic recreation, fitness classes, youth programs, and senior activities for the Chillicothe community and surrounding areas. We take pride in our history of community involvement, and our ability to provide a place and activity for everyone.
Pearce Community Center serves Chillicothe in a greater variety of ways than any organization or institution in this town's history. This is where our community gathers to socialize, recreate, exercise, and volunteer. Pearce attained this status through a groundswell of community support beginning in 1989.
Pearce Community Center offers very reasonable rates for membership. Our memberships are on a recurring dues basis and can be paid monthly*, quarterly, semi-annually, or annually. Convenient monthly payments can be made through automatic deduction from a checking or savings account. When you activate your membership, we require a $100.00 initiation fee and at least the first month's dues.
Our locker rooms are equipped with full shower facilities. Bath towels are available to rent one at a time for $1. Both full and half lockers can be rented for one year. The cost is $80 for a full locker, and $50 for a half locker each year; however, your rate will be prorated based on the date you begin your rental.
Constructed in 2012, our playground was made possible by the generosity of the Chillicothe Foundation and Pearce Foundation members. Our outdoor playground offers not only a fun place for kiddos to play, but a fun place for kiddos to exercise! Check out our outdoor exercise equipment next to our new playground.

My daughter dropped off my grandchildren in the childcare room. There was a room full of children to one staff member. My daughter went to the front desk to ask if another staff member could help with the kids. The lady behind the desk looked at the monitors to count how many children were in the room. At that time my daughter seen her 3 and 5 year olds walking to the bathroom by themselves. She went back to the childcare area to get the kids. She asked the staff where the kids were and they didnt know. At that same time the kids walked back into the the room. When I asked my granddaughters if

We love Pearce! Their memberships are incredibly affordable. They offer a wide variety of options for exercise. Their pool is well-kept and the locker rooms are among the cleanest in the area! Be sure to make use of their staff; they're friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, and most importantly, they care about your well-being! A wonderful gem of Chillicothe!

Pearce is an amazing fitness and community center. They have so many different options available to their members (and non members). We shopped around gyms, and Pearce's value is unheard of--fitness classes are free, there is a wide variety of classes to meet each of our needs, they offer child care while you work out and the opportunities for children are unbelievable. Summer Camp, Day Camp, School's Out to name a few. The staff is positive and motivational. I can't say enough great things about Pearce!

We were upset when they raised the price of a family membership as a lot of people in the Chillicothe were. I think when pricing things they should keep in mind that they are a community center and NOT a private club. Then price according to what people in our community can afford.
There are a lot of great amenities that Pearce provides or will provide for an extra fee. Like all of their classes and programs for kids. They seem to be always brainstorming to figure out what the next big thing there should be.
I have noticed progress on updating the facility since the big staff chang over, which

Got rid of membership because i can only go evenings and the staff is rude. On top of that they sit around and eat fast food at the front desk. This is a health place where I go to lose weight but watch the front desk eat garbage in front of me while their kids run around and rule the place. If they got new staff this place would be great cause the classes rock like zumba, spinning and hip hop. Until then the people are rude and I don't want a membership for that. I can pay the same and go to Lacons health club where they are nice!!

There is no better value than Pearce for a family. The pool is very nice. The only draw back I would say is the locker rooms need more lockers for renting. They have a long waiting list to get one. They are friendly and lots of activities. The classes are very good and popular, best of all most are included in the membership.

I have been a member at Pearce for 4 years. I have been a member at other gyms before and the rates are very reasonable! By far one of the cheapest in the Peoria area. They have tons of classes and activities for seniors and children as well. They have a small area where you can leave kids 6mo and older while you exercise. I like that everyone is friendly and the facilities are very clean! I love that they have a women's only room to exercise in.
The only improvements I think they could make is having the room for kids open more than just a few hours...however for the size of the place and

The facilities are fine. The "Strong Room" is a waste of space in my opinion. It should have remained part of the free weight room.
Here is my biggest complaint. I have had a family membership there since 1997 or 1998, the rates have been reasonable. Our membership lapsed for a couple of months. I went in today to renew our family membership and they charged me $100 for initiation fees, they would not wave the initiation fees even though I had been a member for nearly 20 years.
Just a word of warning, they don't seem to have any appreciation for long term customers or people

My membership is primarily for the pool. i don't use weights or any of the classes. their pool is exceptional. i'd used YMCA, ISU, & Richwoods in the past, and Pearce is much better and cleaner. it is almost impossible to get in to swim laps on a Tues/Thurs night because a new swim club has practice and lessons so i just work around that. my only complaint is that "walkers" that go in the evenings walk in the swim lanes instead of the open end so you have to compete with them for space. it's not totally their fault though because the open end is consumed by families
