Childcare Resources
Childcare Resources is a Birmingham, Alabama based non-profit organization whose mission is to make quality care and education of children happen by providing information, education, and assistance to families, providers of child care, and the community.

Central Alabama's only child care resource and referral agency, Childcare Resources was created as the outgrowth of a child care task force convened by United Way of Central Alabama in 1984 to address critical child care needs identified in Jefferson, Shelby and Walker Counties, with Blount County added to the service area in 1988.
Services
Childcare Resources' Resource and Referral Program is a free service that guides families through the process of locating quality child care. Finding child care can be difficult, especially in central Alabama where there are more than 700 child care programs. Call our Resource and Referral Coordinator to assist with your customized search, and to provide available parenting resources.
The Childcare Resources' Supplemental Child Care Program (SCCP) assists eligible working parents with children birth to age five (prior to kindergarten entry) with paying for the cost of child care. Based on a sliding scale related to family size and income, parents pay a portion of the cost of care and Childcare Resources pays a portion.
The Office of Head Start (OHS) works to prepare young children from local low-income families to succeed in both school and life. The Head Start and Early Head Start Programs promote a child's development through comprehensive early learning, health, and family well-being services. Childcare Resources operates our Head Start Program through a partnership model with local schools, child care programs, and the community.
At Childcare Resources, we are improving the quality of child care for Alabama's children by providing professional development opportunities that build the foundation for competent child care professionals, while offering access to developmentally appropriate materials for classrooms. For more information on services and scheduling, please call the Provider Intake Line at (205) 945-0018 and press 9.
Childcare Resources' training is led by individuals who have experience in the child care field as teachers and administrators. They understand your challenges and responsibilities. Sessions are interactive, informative and FUN. Training is available week-days, evenings, and Saturdays virtually, at our offices, or at local venues in the area including child care programs.

I have been in communication with them for almost 3 weeks about childcare for my newborn and they are slow to return phone calls If returned at all. They told me at the last minute they did not have room for my child and I am supposed to go back to work and now have no childcare for my son. This is the most frustrating process I have ever dealt with in my entire life. They need a complete turnover for better staff. This program is supposed to help families so they are able to provide for their family and have reliable childcare and they have put me in a position to not be able to do anything. WOULD

I enjoy taking training courses here. The staff is very professional and kind. When I come there for my training courses, I learn so much about childcare. They are very encouraging. They are constantly encouraging us to start our own facilities or to do our best at the facilities we are at. The three individuals I encounter the most there are Becky, Alex, and Margaret. Margaret always makes me feel welcome when I come. She is always on top of things. Becky and Alex have taught most of the training courses I have signed up for. I can tell, they are very passionate about making sure we are trained
