Microsoft has resumed its plan to disable all Basic Authenticaiton protocols in Microsoft 365/Office 365. Basic Authentication is an outdated industry standard, and threats posed by Basic Auth have only increased in the time since Microsoft originally announced they were making this change. Even though Microsoft announced they were putting the work on hold, they didn't stop improving security.
We want to let all customers know that we will be retiring support for Windows XP and Server 2003 in all of our managed services offerings, including but not limited to managed anti-virus, and health checks, patch managmenet, monitoring, etc. As you know, Microsoft officially ended support for these operating systems many years ago.
Microsoft Security Response Center released a blog post to announce that the cumulative patch released for CVE-2021-34527 also includes a new feature that provides users with the ability to allow non-administrative users to only install signed printer drivers which are trusted by "the installed root certificates in the system's Trusted Root Certification Authorities".
This security incidient allowed attackers to target about 40 different MSP companies and all of their client machines which they monitor and manage, encrypting all of their data and requesting a ransom to release the data. We are happy to report that Computing Technologies currently does not, and has never used Kasyea VSA software in any way.
