We treat, train, support, and advocate to improve the emotional health of individuals and their families during the family-building years. There is a gap in knowledge and understanding of emotional health and its impact on individuals and their families, which often results in mental health challenges going under-diagnosed and under-treated.
There is also a stigma that surrounds mental health, preventing people from seeking the support they may need. We see an opportunity to close this gap, break the stigma, and change the way we view and treat emotional health to improve the lives of our generation and of those to come. Maternal depression affects children when they are prenatal all the way through adolescence.

Many women cannot afford the emotional support they need, impacting not only them, but also the families that depend on them. At Seleni, we already treat many of these women each month by providing care at no or low cost.
Sometimes working parents need a little extra support. Give your employees the gift of emotional wellbeing for a happier, healthier, and more productive workplace!. Your organization likely contains many parents - members of parenting couples, separated co-parents, single, adoptive, foster, step-, and expectant parents.
Our recently expanded curriculum utilizes the most current theoretical and research findings in lectures, case studies, and role-play techniques, we cover the critical steps to treating these common conditions. Special coverage is given to factors that may influence how patients experience PMADs, grief and loss.

Working with low-income communities means that any and every struggle, diagnosis, etc. will walk through my door. It is crucial for me to have enough knowledge about my clients' experiences so that I can treat them as holistically as possible. The Seleni Institute is one organization that I can always count on when it comes to courses pertaining to Women's health and perinatal mental health. This also happens to be my main area of interest and it is an area of psychology that is very under-researched. It feels good to know that there are organizations out there who make it their mission to train

I just completed my first training with Seleni Institute and plan to complete additional training in the near future. Seleni provides quality education and I am excited to take this knowledge into practice. I would highly recommend Seleni as a training resource for those working in perinatal mental health.!

After having our first child, I knew I wanted to become a doula. Within my doula studies, I soon realized that providing physical comfort measures was just as important as the emotional aspect. In addition, it was crucial to continue providing that emotional support to all mother’s postpartum.
As someone who has personally battled with postpartum anxiety and depression, I learned that advocating for myself was the most important decision I made in recovery. My personal battles and self-discovery gave me the desire to encourage others to learn to advocate for themselves as well.

We have used the Seleni Institute's online training in Maternal Mental Health for our staff and have been so pleased with the quality and content of their online program! The instant access and online format makes it so accessible for our clinicians. We are so grateful to have an immediate alternative to in-person training when onboarding and training our new staff!

I attended the new moms group at Seleni during my maternity leave and everything about the experience was great. It was so helpful to be around other moms and feel like I wasn't alone. Kate, Shara, and Patricia were all amazing facilitators. The space was welcoming and relaxing, and it was easy to bring a baby with me when I needed to (but the focus was really on what the MOMS needed, which is something most of us were not spending much time on out in the world). Things evened out for me while I was attending group meetings, but if I had needed further help, I wouldn't have hesitated

Awful. Getting one star because of the lovely doctor who did my initial intake phone call. I don't believe she knows that the person she referred me to basically discouraged me from seeking treatment at Seleni and basically told me just to go to Payne Whitney. Because I inquired about sliding scale? I felt ashamed but later found out from other professionals they have stopped referring women here because of this reason. If you have the money they will help you, otherwise they will not. I read they have a teen program, I wonder if it is limited to wealthy teens. Shame on Seleni for pretending to

I had an incredible experience at Seleni. I first went there for a consultation with their IBCLC and continued going for weekly breastfeeding clinics. It is such a supportive and welcoming environment. I felt so comfortable there that I returned months later for their sleep support clinic. They have every challenge a mother could experience covered. Whatever the hurdle, I'll always reach to them. The space is like oasis in the city, the staff are lovely.

Friend recommended this place to me 6 months ago when I was feeling really anxious a few weeks into my pregnancy (my first). Kind of lifesaving. I've been going ever since and I feel so much better. Andrew the clinic director made me feel so taken care of and the therapist I see is really lovely - exactly what I needed (just needed some TLC with all the hormones and nausea!). I took the breastfeeding workshop where they prepare first timers and that was really helpful. Now in therapy there and we talk about fears of not being a good mom, what if I have to have c-section, etc. And the office is
