The Lincoln Bike Kitchen is a community-building organization that provides bicycles and related resources to all people. We advocate for utilitarian bicycling as a vital part of a healthy, equitable and sustainable community. We connect cycling to broader environmental and social issues through outreach, and education.
In past years, LBK gave over 300 bikes to kids in 2016 and 650 in 2017, including a helmet and cable lock with each bike. Our success has been so overwhelming we are splitting at the seams and have outgrown our current space. We can't sustain this pace unless we find a new location. If you know of a possible space for repairs, office work and storage, contact us so we can continue helping kids be kids by matching them with a gently used bike!

The only reason I gave them two stars is because they DO give kids bikes, helmets and locks for free that otherwise cant afford one. HOWEVER, what they DON'T do is give respect. I couldnt believe the way I was treated when there. It was sickening. Nate and Clayton both. Its unfortunate that something so amazing sucks due to rudeness from volunteers.

They're only open Monday evenings in the winter, so be sure to visit their website for hours. If you're a bike maintenance guru, they have the facilities for you to work on your bike yourself and give you the space you need to work. If you're like me and had no idea where to begin, they walked me through the basics and showed me not only what they were doing, but why and had me learn the techniques hands-on. A donations-run non-profit doing great work in our community!
