Establishing an estate plan is one of the most important steps you can take to protect yourself and your loved ones. Proper estate planning not only puts you in charge of your finances, it can also spare your loved ones the expense, delay and frustration associated with managing your affairs if you become disabled and after you are gone.
Parents may be surprised and dismayed to find that they are not entitled to access to medical information and are not authorized to participate in important decisions regarding their adult children's healthcare at times of crisis. Why? Although they may still be students, in the eyes of the law they are adults.
When a loved one passes away, his or her estate often goes through a court-managed process called probate or estate administration where the assets of the deceased are managed and distributed. If your loved-one owned his or her assets through a well drafted and properly funded living trust, it is likely that no court-managed administration is necessary, though the successor trustee needs to administer the distribution of the deceased's assets.

Working with this lawyer was an absolute pleasure and easy. Initial and subsequent meetings were held by phone, email and zoom, and finally, a visit to his office. My wife and I were pleased with how he made the process smoothly organized, and comfortable. My husband and I recently updated our Estate Documents with Iden Law and we are very pleased with all parts of the process. Bruce is thorough, extremely organized, and professional. He has a system with checklists and forms to help you prepare for the process. He explains everything very clearly and patiently. The documents are presented in a binder where everything is organized and easy to find; additionally the office sent us PDF's for our records.
