I work with people who want to better understand, accept, and communicate their emotions, needs, and longings. You are preoccupied by depression, anxiety, or past trauma and unable to be present with others. You want a romantic relationship, or closer friendships, but feel lost about how to make that happen.
Psychotherapy can provide the security, compassion, and insight you need to make new discoveries about yourself, your feelings, and your relationships. Together we'll help you understand what you want, what's been getting in your way, and how to move towards more satisfying, authentic, and honest relationships.

I believe that we heal and grow best in connection with others, and that our emotions, even the painful ones, provide us with important information about what we need and where we should be headed. For over twenty years, I've helped adults, teens, and couples listen more deeply to their emotions and longings.
People with childhood sexual trauma and/or physical abuse, or who experienced growing up in chaotic or neglectful environments. These histories often create a sense of fear, distrust, shame, grief and anger, even decades after the trauma has ended. Therapy can help you process and understand distressing events, as well as grieve, soothe old wounds, rebuild a sense of safety, and feel more free to focus on the present.
Rather than hiding from important feelings and vulnerabilities, therapy provides you with a supportive and nonjudgmental relationship that allows you to explore your thoughts and emotions, and better understand your desires, fears and behaviors.
Whether you are experiencing depression, worry/anxiety, relationship concerns, the impact of trauma/PTSD, or a general sense that things just don't feel right, together we can find ways to ease your pain and use your emotions to guide you forward.I can help you identify your hopes and needs, the obstacles in your way, and how you might create the life and relationships you want.

I work with couples from all walks of life, including people in heterosexual, same-sex, interracial and genderqueer relationships. In our work together, I provide a stable and nonjudgmental place to manage conflicts, express your needs, and develop a more loving and effective way of interacting.
I strive to understand each person as an individual and as part of a couple, and will collaborate with both of you to identify destructive patterns of interaction as well as what each of you needs to feel accepted, trusting, understood, and loved.I am Certified in Emotionally Focused Therapy, and also draw upon skills from The Gottman Method and my years of experience working with people of diverse sexualities and genders.
