For many reasons, people move to assisted living communities because they can no longer take care of themselves or you can no longer be the primary caregiver for your loved one(s). It is rare that you woke up this morning wanting to move your loved one(s) into an Assisted Living Community out of the blue.
Now that you have decided to look into an assisted living community, you ought to ask the opinion and the willingness of your loved one(s) because it would not be a small change in their lives. Consequently, in most cases, it could be a difficult conversation to have.
To move forward, it might be beneficial to remember (1) why you want to have the conversation in the first place, (2) it is a group decision because the whole family is in it all together, (3) and it is a positive move. You may not be living your life the way you imagined. More time is lost on doing activities of daily living for your loved one(s) instead of enjoying your own life.

As you search for an assisted living community for your loved one(s), you might find pricing comparison to be confusing. Tiered or la carte pricing or fee-for service - typically includes the different care services that a resident receives on top of the rent of the room, depending on the size and location.
Choosing the perfect location for your loved one(s) to stay is crucial. If you want to visit your loved one(s) often, where they live should be located near your normal routine or convenient for family members to visit often. Once you know the preferred location, it's now time to start looking! Most people start researching on the internet.

This review is past due as my father's stay at Huntington Manor was brief; however, I still felt compelled to leave them a review. My father who is in late stage Alzheimer's was in the Pomerado Hospital Geriatric Psych ward for a few weeks and upon his release it was determined that we couldn't bring him back home. He couldn't walk and unfortunately his Alzheimer's had only gotten worse and he had become quite agitated on a regular basis. Upon his release from Pomerado, we began searching for an affordable location in Poway mainly because that's where he's lived

My young quadriplegic friend has needed skilled caregivers for parts of his day, which is covered very well by the HM staff. He really enjoys the spacious grounds (2.5 acres) to be able to visit the flower gardens, the koi ponds, the waterfall areas, feed chickens in their private yard, or overlook the school's athletic fields, & watch games. There is so much peaceful space. He also enjoys the large dining room for great meals (by Chef P. Butzen) or attend social activities, or just watch TV with other residents. Each private room has access to the outdoors, & offers a light comfortable living

I could not have found a more warm and nurturing environment for my father to spend his last months. He entered after a hospital stay that left him underweight and unable to walk. Within a few weeks he was smiling, eating well, and using his walker daily. He said that Phillip's cooking saved his life. The grounds are beautiful and the staff is efficient and caring.

Huntington Manor is a wonderful assisted living facility. The grounds and gardens are beautiful - flowers all year round - plants irrigated and waterfalls supplied by well water. The staff are all exceptionally dedicated and caring. They kindly cater to whatever their residents request or prefer, and are very sensitive to the likes and dislikes of individual personalities. Mother has been there nearly three years now, and their attention to her changing needs continues to be reassuring and very much appreciated. We have no regrets at all at choosing this facility over several others we

My mother lived at huntington house for three years where she received excellent care. Our family visited many other homes and this was by far superior to any other. What sets this home apart is the caregivers. They treat all of their patients with excellent care and the upmost respect. When we met with Phillip he made us many promises and he kept every one of them. We r so completely satisfied with care

We moved our dear Mom there after she fractured her second hip. She also had significant dementia. She had a beautiful room , with a door that opened into a patio with a garden, in the house where there were 5 other residents (all women) . The primary caregivers in the house were Honey on day shift and Amy on night shift. Both were remarkably conscientious women . They were caring and compassionate. Mom received the very best care there. She loved the food and the caregivers. She has recently passed away after living there over 2 years and almost made it to her 100th birthday (missed it by 3 month

Huntington Manor is an extraordinary place for your elderly parent to spend the last months or years of their life. Our mother moved there in 2008 into a private room opening onto a private patio, and they took wonderful care of her, They managed her medications no matter what she needed, kept her clean and warm and safe, walked her in the generous acre and a half of gardens and fountains where they grow the flowers that sometimes graced her table and her room, and the organic food that became part of her delicious meals. The staff lives on the grounds, the care is 24/7, and the owner, Philip Butzen
