We chose the Mill for the beautiful scenery as well as the above and beyond staff. During our viewing, we were shown the facility and I was personally really impressed with the bridal suite accommodations. The dresser drawer was filled with items a bride and her crew may need for last minute fix ups or forgotten items. When we left our first visit, we were given treats for our pet cat Ozzy, which myself and my now husband really took note of. We mentioned how much we love our cat and that gesture really made me feel like they listened to our requests/wants.
My husband did a lot of the correspondence

I cannot express my feeling towards Lakeside Manor, they are deep after my mother being in a assisted living home where I believe patients were not treated as a priority but money was. I was told my mother was no longer eating and put on a pureed diet and left in bed a majority of the time. As soon as a room became available at Lakeside Manor I moved her here. Within the few first hours of her arriving she was eating food a non pureed diet, she greatly appreciated her cookies and fruit. There was never a problem with eating. She was NEVER left in bed and I could always find her on a comfy couch

My mom is happy there. I came to visit and she was eating in the dining room right when you walk in and she had a smile on her face before she even saw me, which made me happy and comfortable. She says she has a lot of friends here and has a good time. I'm glad this worked out for her.

Lakeside Manor was a Godsend for me. My mother spent the last 7 months of her life here. Johanna and her staff are absolute angels on earth. They took impeccable care of my mother in every way, and I know how difficult this type of care is because I tried to take care of her on my own before I placed her. I realized I simply could not do it on my own and she needed 24/7 care.

It was so fortunate that Lakeside Manor came up in a Google search, otherwise I never would have known about it. It is wonderfully unique in the sense that it's like a home versus a skilled nursing facility.

My mom was a resident at Lakeside Manor for almost three years. It's beautiful home like setting and lovely outdoor areas were at once appealing. As a nurse, I am very familiar with the staffing and training needs of a facility. The safeguards they have in place, such as motion detectors are unobtrusive. Each staff member knows the resident and treats them with dignity, compassion and care. The food is fantastic. There are lots of activities and family is welcome and encourage to come anytime.

I can honestly say I have never seen such attention to care. I gave an in service on diabetes

When my father needed 24 hr residential care , we toured this place. We were extremely impressed with the facility, the staff, and the care the residents were receiving. We toured unannounced so we saw it without warning. We signed him up. He spent the last 5 months of his life here and was happier than he had been in any other situation. The staff is exceptional and specifically trained to care for those with dementia. It is normal to be confused here and the residents are loved and respected and their every need is met, meals activities, grooming, and caregiving are the highest quality. End of

I have had the privilege of entertaining the residents at Lakeside Manor for the past 15 +years. I visit the residents on a weekly basis to bring piano music to a very appreciative audience. The staff is outstanding and are so warm, gentle and genuinely loving with the residents. This is one of very few smaller facilities that really provides a warm, homelike, safe environment for elderly that are infirm or suffering from some form of dementia. They go out of their way to make sure that the residents are safe, comfortable, and kept stimulated through music and various craft projects. While some

Not sure where to really begin. My dad has dementia and last September he fell pretty bad and it was obvious that he wasn't going to be able to live at home anymore. He needed 24/7 care. He originally went to a nursing home but very quickly we had to find a permanent home for him. It was the hardest thing to do. My mom, brother and I met with Joanna at the house. We took a tour and she went over my dad's care. All the staff is very knowledgeable with dementia residents. She gave us many examples of how they would handle certain situations with him. Fast forward 3 plus months later and

My father spent the last 16 months of his Alzheimer's journey at Lakeside Manor, and I could not have been more pleased with the level of care that he received during that time. When evaluating memory care units, I realized I needed to consider both the quality of the physical facilities and the quality of care that would be provided. I concluded that Lakeside Manor's facilities are more than adequate, but the quality of care was off the charts. Johanna and her team provide excellent care, with a lot of compassion and love thrown in free of charge! Johanna became "family"

Place is loaded with low lives and losers. Always asking for money and cigarettes, running into traffic asking at your car window. My Dad lived at Lakeside Manor for 16 months beginning shortly after displaying advanced symptoms of dementia, until his death
at the age of 91 from long term cardiovascular disease. I was a desperate
and skeptical person when I had no choice but to find a place for him to
live. He had become a danger to himself and others in many different ways.
My dad was very determined to continue living the independent lifestyle he
had for so many years. Unfortunately his inability to keep time, recognize
his surroundings and manage his prescription medicines left me no other
choice but to find a

I am updating this review to specifically address the issues that Dan contested in his response.

1. Regardless if what I was told was true or not, if this is standard protocol to handle a resident that is considered a "danger", I recommend that you SERIOUSLY take this into consideration when placing your loved one here. This demonstrates inability, unwillingness or possibly ignorance on how to manage or re-direct dementia patients. Be prepared to face a similar situation with your loved one. Understand that you will never know what really happened as your loved one will not remember

A positive shout out Lakeside Manor. We love the family atmosphere and the strong commitment to quality care of the residents. Dan and Elaine are very dedicated to treating the residents at their facility with the dignity, respect and warmth they deserve. We also love the quality of food they serve, fresh and from local sources, when possible. No place is perfect. but we feel completely comfortable to place our dear old dad in the competent and loving hands of Lakeside Manor. Dan and Elaine, thank you so much for your hard and tireless work to provide such an excellent facility for our loved ones

My aunt has been at Lakeside Manor for the past 6 month and the care she receives here is exceptional. Johanna, the care manager, treats the residents as if they are her own family members, with both love and respect. She works closely with the hospice team and is respected by their nurses. The aides also provide gentle and supportive care. As an RN case manager, in the San Diego for the past 38 years, I recognize when a person is receiving good care. The staff at this facility provides excellent care.
PS I would like to add that someone in my family is visiting daily so I would say we have a

I have had nothing but excellent service and response from Lakeside Manor. I have known the owners, Dan and Elaine Bailey, for many years while dealing with my father and his care.
What I love about the facility is the family oriented environment versus a hospital like feel.
At Lakeside Manor Elaine makes sure that all the holidays are celebrated and families are invited as well. The staff have been very loving and caring and always there to answer any concerns or questions I might have about my father. I would recommend this assisting living for dementia or alzheimer's patients that are

Lakeside Manor is an excellent facility and have recommended them to my friends and colleagues. Their place is warm, friendly and feels like home. Their residents are treated with dignity, love and patience. I love how every Christmas they decorate their facility as they would their own home, they invite all of the family members to join the residents for a nice holiday dinner, music and entertainment. My husband has been asked to be their Santa each and every year and it is a very rewarding experience. The owners Dan and Elaine are excellent care givers and would do anything for anyone in need

This place is an absolute hell hole. It is similare to a prison where they give people just enough to sustain them with paper thin blankets, the worst quality food, staff regularly steal from the residents and prey on the residents' feble mindedness. My father died here due to diabedic coma. He did not come out of his room for a week for any meals. This was noticed by the staff and no one did or said anything. Just let him die in his room when literally a glass or orange juice would have saved his life.
Forgive the insult but this is typical jewish buisness where they would do anything to cut

The fact that this facility shovels the snow for it's main entrance and parking lot, but IGNORES the other two sides of the building tells me they don't care about their neighbors or their community - NOT TO MENTION their own residents, many of whom are elderly, disabled, or otherwise fragile.
One side of their building abuts a city bus stop (Forest Avenue) and they don't shovel or salt. Another side runs along Silver Lake Road, where they don't bother shoveling or salting either. And, along their main entrance on Brighton Avenue, they only shovel that portion that's necessary to get in and out
