The quality or fact of wine being typical of the geographical provenance and of the grape variety (or varieties) from which it is made. When you visit Tunnel Hill you stand inside the rocks of the Knapp's Hill Tunnel just up the hill. Our stone tasting room was built from the rubble blasted to construct the tunnel in 1937, and has endured the many years.
This too is the story of Tunnel Hill. It is the story of passion, persistence and creating beauty from what is found before us. Since 2001 we have been patiently transforming former farm land to vineyards, and a simple stone cottage into a gathering place for friends, family and fine wine. We have learned a lot about the land, the wine it creates, and our own roles in the middle.

Services
At Tunnel Hill we like to think that we let our grapes speak for themselves. The grapes for our flagship wines-Riesling, Syrah, and Pinot Noir-come from 7 acres of vineyards that were planted starting in 2001 on our family land on the south shore of Lake Chelan. With the more recent additions of Viognier, Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon, we currently use approximately 95% of our own fruit for our wine production.
The heart of Tunnel Hill lies not only in its wines but also its people who work hard to make our customers feel welcome. Whether it be creating an inviting tasting space, crafting our wines, tending our vineyards or keeping our grounds beautiful, we work hard to help you feel at home. We couldn't do this without our wonderful staff who truly are our "face".
We are excited to have you visit and want all our guests to feel like family. We welcome people to enjoy our grounds which include 10 acres of estate vineyards, our Waterfall Garden and the original stone buildings built in 1937 which give us our name. We are currently open for tasting by reservation Thursday through Monday 12-5pm in our Waterfall Garden and Patio.
We work hard to make our tasting areas inviting and want everyone to have a wonderful tasting room experience. We love to hear what you enjoyed or what we can do to serve our customers better. We had our wedding reception at Tunnel Hill. Michelle, the Tunnel Hill manager, was flexible, helpful, and accommodating as we changed plans multiple times due to updated COVID guidance. Throughout all the changes, Michelle treated us like close friends and made us feel comfortable and welcome. Our small, casual reception was stunningly beautiful, and the wines and service were great. We looked at many wineries in Chelan before choosing Tunnel Hill, and we would undoubtedly choose it again and again.

We went to Tunnel Hill Winery today on the Chelan Electric Bike tour (highly recommend!) and had such a lovely visit. The winery is absolutely charming and the wines were delicious. We had the opportunity to meet the owners and loved hearing their story. Huge shout-out to Meghan who served us today-she was so helpful and patient with us!

A smaller venue but very cute. The highest table has a beautiful view. The wines are great. I personally recommend the Camino and the Sacrilege. The staff is always very nice and inviting. The store area and serving space is extremely clean and well kept. Pricing is extremely reasonable! Taking a bottle home isn't just for the ridiculously weathly and it takes like some other extremely high end wines from other wineries (if not better than some). Please visit this winery and enjoy :)

Loved this place!! Good price, really friendly staff. Can take your tasting outside and enjoy in the cute garden area - so relaxing and quiet! We grabbed some cheese from the fridge too and the staff brought it out to us on a plate with extra crackers. Was very taken care of! The wines were great too, and you can choose 5 tastings from a list of wines to customize to your taste. Highly recommend and can't wait to come back!

We visited their gorgeous facility yesterday. The staff was super kind and efficient and the wine was really tasty! We especially enjoyed their rose and red blend. We had our three children with us, we sat in the garden in the back and they went up and down the hill playing with two rubber duckies for almost two hours without any judgement from the staff. The tasting room had enough snacks for sale to make a mini picnic and I loved visiting the llamas. We left with a case and will be back next time!

Super uncomfortable when you walk into a winery and two workers are talking to each other without acknowledging 5 customers who walk in. Not even to say one moment please. I am giving it a two based 100% on customer service. They literally were talking about work schedules, the dishwasher, the water not working, sick days, etc. And I will say this was not me imagining it coming across as unacknowledged, we were completely unacknowledged. I dont like when the response to this is I felt unacknowledged. We didn't even get an " excuse us, we will be with you in one minute".Beyond uncomfortable

We spend a week in Chelan every year and Tunnel Hill is one of our very favorites... The wine - it's superb. That could be enough of a reason to visit but then there is the atmosphere... Enjoy AC inside and sit in comfy leather chairs, or of course taste at the bar and get to know the friendliest wine folks in Chelan! Or - there is the sweetest patio area - grassy with tables, shade and an adorable fountain. Don't miss this one!

The winery itself is beautiful in the back with a waterfall garden. However, the manager completely ruined our experience. Michelle accused our group of not paying for our two bottles of wine. After I raised my hand and said I paid, she yelled across the winery (also in front of strangers tasting I did not know) and very blunt and rudely told me I only paid for one. Again, I patiently told her I paid for both and the lady I paid acknowledged I paid for both. She sternly stared me down shook her head at me in disgust. I didn't say a word and walked out, completely in shock. I've never

Stopped at three wineries and probably liked Tunnel Hill the best. The hostess was knowledgeable and very welcoming and we had a good visit talking about the history of the place and the wines. Beautiful setting; Ill have to spend more time here next visit. My wife and I got their dessert riesling but their reds were also quite good. Stop by, you wont regret it.

It was our last winery for the afternoon, got there at 4:40...3 out of 5 of us wanting to partake in their tasting. It was not a warm and fuzzy feel atmosphere. I'm thinking it was because it was getting close to 5:00~closing time, which we did not know they closed that early! The lady waiting on us made it a point to tell everyone she lived right up on the hill above the winery. Oh wow! We got down to the 4th tasting and she did not want to open a new bottle but another couple said they would like to try it too, so she felt pressure to open the bottle but with a real attitude on her face

They have a beautiful spot to enjoy small plates or wines. Their flights are reasonably priced as are the plates. Their tiered seating arrangement is gorgeous. I especially like that you can sit actually in the little waterfall and look out across the lake. The parking seems appropriate and it only seemed packed when I was there at a peak time

This was the first of a couple wine stops around Chelan and we started off with a great one. First impression when climbing out of the car was that the grounds are beautiful. Lots of natural round stones used to build the surrounding details. The tasting room is actually quite simple looking inside compared to the outside features I think. The service here was really good, the server was friendly and kept us engaged in the wines sharing tasting notes and such. The tasting was less expensive than most in the area and the fee was waived with a single bottle purchase where some in the area

This year was our second visit to Tunnel Hill. Both times, Michelle the winemaker poured our tasting which is such a privilege. She has a great pallet and takes some risks with her blends that often pay off. Most of their grapes are grown on premise and very limited vintages but also very reasonably priced for the quality. Last year we loved the 2014 Syrah and this year I loved everything I tasted. I went home with Sacrilege, which is unusual blend of Pinot Noir and Syrah (hence the name) because it's sort of taboo to blend Pinot Noir in the U.S. The winery is super adorable but the best

I love their late harvest! As us girls sitting there wine tasting and chít chat...we didn't realized the gentlemen sitting next to us is the owner. Dennis is so friendly and we had great conversation. Too bad they're having a wedding today so we couldn't tour around the outside. Definately come back again.

We had just come from Karma (where we had terrible service and okay wine) and were blown away. The place was full and yet we were immediately helped. It was dog friendly and we sat outside in the beautiful terraced landscape drinking wonderful wine. Go here if you are unimpressed by the snoooty expensive places nearby!

We came to Chelan for the day and we realized there's so many winery here. We were greeted by Coleen, she was friendly and amazing. $5 gets your 4 pours out of the list they have available. The $5 gets waived if you buy a bottle from them. I would totally come back to visit again. They have a small patio so you can enjoy the view.

We had made a quick detour on out way from Lake Chelan to Leavenworth. Its just a few miles past Lake Chelan on alternate WA. 97 route.
They have excellent view of the lake. Good options for wine testing. The fee gets waved if you buy bottles. The owner was very friendly.
I had a glass of their 2012 pinot noir that was full of volume and fruity. Wonderful experience and highly recommended if you a anywhere near Lake Chelan.
