When joining the Emerson Souza Jiu Jitsu Academy no matter what level you will become part of a unique family. My two boys, now ages 10 and 5, have been attending Emerson Souza BJJ for a little over a year and they LOVE it! Emerson is a world champion and an amazing instructor.
Emerson is patient, but commanding. He is fun, but thoroughly trains these kids to do and master complex moves. He is genuinely concerned about how these kids approach life in general. He instills patience, discipline, hard work and respect.

I was enrolled at Emerson’s for a few month before I relocated to Delaware. The environment there was sooo inviting and Emerson himself never made you feel rushed or like you were part of any ranking system at all. The regular guys there were so kind to me and pushed me in such a positive way I wanted to keep going no matter how tired I was.
Emerson gave recognition where it was due; ie. when he saw that you were working hard. He even noticed that I had loss a good amount of weight and became more agile and stronger, just all around positive. No pressure to compete but pressure to be the best

My kids and I joining Emerson Souza BJJ was the best decision we made in regards to Martial Arts. My kids; boy 6, girl 10, have been having an awesome time learning the craft of Brazilian JiuJitsu, while also making great friends. I have enjoyed training with World Champion Emerson Souza, and at the same time gaining strength and losing fat. I would recommend this for anyone that wants a fun way to get fit and learn martial arts.

Summary: Emerson Souza Academy is a great place to train. As a long time practitioner of other arts, Emerson is familiar with both the technique and the subtle aspects of jujitsu. He is a living embodiment that you don't need to be 7 feet tall & have huge muscle to protect yourself. That form, structure, technique, and yielding to resistance provide the formula for success. Bottom line, If I was in NY I would be training here, I would also recommend it to my friends.

Emerson Souza teaches every class! They have yoga, bjj, muay thai, and one on one fitness training if requested. Facilities have shower, gym, locker room and two floors fully mated and containing pads. Highly recommended place to train that is very family friend and competition oriented. 2 - 6 blackbelts are always training and helping out beginners!

There are people who open up businesses to only make money and then there are people who love what they do so much they need to share it with others. Emerson is not only an unbelievable teacher, champion, if you train there you become family. I must also say he is an honest business man. He cares about your progress. This is definitely one of the best personal decisions I have made for myself and I'm hooked. If your interested in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu This is the school for you!

Professor Emerson is not only a World Champion in BJJ and a wealth of knowledge, he is also an outstanding teacher who is always on the mats improving his students. The staff and student body have high level Jiu Jitsu but are very friendly and all around great people. No meat-head mentalities here! Highly recommend!
