Great place to enjoy a bit of history. Rooms are small but, you should expect that as the building was built in the ate 1800s. It is located in the center of town on main street. Staff are very friendly Great breakfast too.

Interesting history. Very small historical size rooms with not much space other than the bed and for your luggage. Excellent bathrooms with plenty of space. Very good breakfast but no choice in what you were served other than to refuse part of it. Friendly staff.

The staff were friendly, helpful, attentive ... Amazing! We love the way they have re-created the ambiance of an earlier time. The rooms were small, but what we expected given it was built in 1897. Walking around Julian was easy since we were right in the middle of town.
We had old fashioned sodas at the Miner's Diner. Later we ate dinner at the Julian Grille. The Hotel started us on our way each day with a delightful breakfast.
A Restful Experience. We Will Repeat!

This hotel is so charming and they truly make you feel at home. I only had the pleasure of staying for two nights last week but I'm already dying to plan my next trip. The staff is so kind and welcoming. Our room was along the main street and we had chairs to sit out on the porch, drink our coffee and take in the atmosphere. The decor is unlike any other and the whole hotel just has a sense of peace and calm. I can't wait to come back as soon as I am able!

Always excellent customer service on the phone and in person. I booked our retreat speakers in June for a first floor room. They loved staying here. I talked to Lisa and booked by phone. Love this place. It is conveniently right on Main Street in Julian. Now it's my first time to stay here. I'm excited about the breakfast that is included too.

A5 stars! Perfect hotel assistance! I need to come back because it's a good one. It was a nice experience for me for the first time. They never fail me on my high expectations. All of my inquiries were answered without any hesitation or complaints at all. The most trustworthy hotel in this place to stay with. Thumbs up to their incredible crews.

Back for a second time. Our favourite hotel in town. Service is always top notch and breakfasts are delicious and well-rounded complete with house granola (they sell it!!!) and fruits.
Tried a different room this time and all the windows and natural light can't be beat. It was a busy weekend and even if our window opened up to the street it was nice and quiet during rest hours.
Loved the room and it's cute closet. If cozy and somewhat unplugged is what you are after, the Julian Gold Rush is the rest place for you.

What a beautiful and quaint little bed and breakfast! I've wanted to book a stay here for the past few years since I love Julian as a getaway from San Diego.

They did a great job preserving the historic, Victorian-era feel of it and the ambiance of the place is exactly what you want from a small-town bed and breakfast. Check-in was fast and painless, they give you a key for your room and for the exterior entrance.

We stayed in room #7 upstairs. The bedroom is what you'd expect from a 2-star hotel-- the basic amenities that you need are all there: bed with clean sheets, A/C, bathroom

Don't give this owner a penny of your hard-earned money. That she claims that they "absolutely accommodate children and welcome them," is completely false considering both her attitude and their policy of only two guests per room. That means parents with even one child cannot stay in a room together, that's not exactly family friendly! They should clearly state this on all their vendor sites since I've never heard of a hotel or B&B having this policy.

We booked our room through Expedia and when we got there we were told that we couldn't have my three children

Awesome stop. Old timey family owned beautiful building. Walls are a bit thin so be considerate of your neighbors. I slept really well and woke up to a homemade breakfast included with my stay. 5 stars easy. Service was friendly and professional... decor is old school but clean. I'm a long distance hiker and stopped for an evening. Awesome place. Love it.

Julian Gold Rush Hotel feels like a warm embrace from your dearest aunt. Each corner is a pleasant surprise of nostalgic goodness. Yummy breakfast, sweet selection of teas and coffee, cozy nooks for cardplaying or flipping through a vintage book from their selection, fun antiques - all feel perfectly placed and welcome with great intention. Perfect wholesome, romantic, and/or relaxing night away from San Diego.

Everything except the food. The portions were skimpy and everything was reheated in the microwave, which ruins eggs and waffles. The hotel and staff were wonderful. I loved our room.

We have been coming here for over 30 years for our anniversary. Not every year but it is one of our favorite spots! Always clean, adorable rooms, awesome breakfasts and the hosts often have had amazing stories of the town and original owners of the hotel. If you ever stay here, see if you find a diary from previous guests who have stayed.. pretty fun! Highly recommend!
