Services
Sheri received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Speech Pathology and Audiology from Rutgers University and attained her Master of Arts degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Montclair University. Sheri's clinical experiences include the University Hospital at UMDNJ in Newark, NJ, where she provided evaluation and treatment services in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
Our program can't run without our amazing volunteers and interns! Our volunteers and interns help us by sidewalking for sessions, taking care of our horses, and helping with administrative duties as needed. We also work with a variety of colleges and universities in the area to provide internships for students studying occupational therapy, physical therapy, speech therapy, or mental health therapy.
Parking is available behind the center to conveniently access our offices. To drive to the back of the center you must pass the Essex Equestrian center going down Woodland Ave., then make the first left onto Terrace Ave (however the sign is missing) then make the first left at the white split rail fence onto Nicholas Ave (however the sign is missing!).
Rocking Horse Rehab is proud to offer internships in mental health, occupational therapy, physical therapy, and speech therapy. Interns in our mental health program work with children struggling with any of the following issues: social skills, mood disorders, anxiety, impulse control, depression, low self-esteem, and poor self-confidence.
RHR is most well-known for its variety of equine assisted therapies. These therapies use horses as a tool, both on the ground and for riding, to make gains towards therapy goals. Our equine assisted therapies include Hippotherapy, Developmental Riding, and Equine Assisted Activities. Rocking Horse Rehab is now offering therapeutic riding sessions.

Two of my children have been receiving therapy at Rocking Horse Rehab for seven years. The days we go to Rocking Horse are their favorite days of the week! The therapists are very knowledgeable and create individualized treatment plans for each child so that he or she gets the maximum benefit from each session, while still making it fun. They are happy to recommend carryover exercises that can be done at home. The owner Sheri and her staff (Carey, Brittany, Ross, etc.) are very experienced and knowledgeable, and care deeply about their patients. They are respectful, communicative, and very responsive

I was lucky enough to have an opportunity to intern at Rocking Horse Rehab for my senior year and learned more than I could of ever imagined. From the very beginning I felt welcomed and surrounded by such a genuine and helpful staff. I was continuously educated about the wonderful services they offer and how they help each individual. I got to work closely alongside Kathy Lutz who has experience and knowledge beyond belief. I got personal mentorship and she even helped guide me to finding a graduate school meant for me. Not only did she educate while at the internship, but whenever she had an opportunity
