Ironstone Veterinary Hospital
Ironstone Farm, in Boyertown, PA was founded in the late 1700's on land sloping up from the banks of the Ironstone Creek. Since 1982, it has been home to 3 enterprises, all conducted here. Ironstone Veterinary Hospital is the core activity. Dr. Sherilyn Allen, VMD, an equine practitioner since 1974, founded the clinic as a small animal facility, where all sorts of pets are cared for in traditional allopathic methods as well as holistic methods.

Sherilyn Allen, VMD, U of PA Vet 1974, founded Ironstone Veterinary Hospital in 1982. An equine practitioner for many years before establishing small animal veterinary hospitals in Lansdale, PA and then Boyertown, Dr. Allen also raised three children and engaged in breeding and showing of Neapolitan Mastiffs, and other dogs, horses, various farm animals species, and exotic birds, while managing and maintaining Ironstone Farm.
Services
Ironstone Veterinary Hospital is proud to serve the Boyertown, Pennsylvania area for everything pet-related. Our veterinary clinic and animal hospital is run by Dr. Sherilyn Allen, VMD, who is a licensed, experienced Boyertown veterinarian. At Ironstone, we espouse holistic medicine, and apply both homeopathic as well as allopathic methods. There is a boarding facility to accommodate every sort of pet, and a grooming parlor, where your pet will be made beautiful. The staff at Ironstone may be its most important asset. They are loving and caring and happy.
Ironstone Veterinay Hospital, established in 1982 in Boyertown, PA. is a one stop shop for all your pets' needs. We offer medical services for any type of companion animal. Our Veterinarians do surgeries, reasonably priced neutering and spaying, and safe ear cropping which is becoming a hotly debated lost art.
If the answer is "yes" then it is time to bring your four legged friend to the vet for a complete dental exam and cleaning. Oral disease is one of the most common health problems for pets. Infection in the mouth not only causes dental disease and bad breath, but may also increase the risk for heart, liver, and/or kidney disease.
Situated on a 60 acre farm in the country, Ironstone Veterinary Hospital, serves as a picturesque escape from everyday life. As you drive down the lane leading to the hospital, you will be greeted by horses grazing in pastures, the rumbling moos of the farm's cows, our friendly, attention loving barn cat, Blossom, and possibly a herd of errant, Houdini goats.

Dr. Womer took great care of our dog, Shelby, today for her surgery. She communicated well both before and after the procedure so we would know what to expect. We are highly impressed.

My cat Rocky is diabetic. His glucose levels were very high. With the guidance of all of the employees, I was able to get him off insulin and just keep him on special food! He was also fat but lost a lot of weight. Great advice gave Rocky a great outcome!

Although I am thankful that Ironestone squeezed me in at least minute with my sick chicken, and that the office staff was incredibly kind, Dr. Allen was not personable. (She also keeps the exam room open where waiting patients can see and hear right into). We found a stray chicken two days prior which we decided to keep. Dr. Allen made me feel, due… to the chickens condition, like I knew nothing about chickens (which isn’t true). She also told me that he most likely he would not make it and that he was underweight and had neurological issues. She gave me antibiotics for him anyway

When a dog is brought in to be seen for a sore from rubbing their face on a carpeted floor, the first question asked should not be “so do you want me to put her down?” She has a small sore that the owners want… to have healed because they care about their animal. Who in their right mind would put a dog down for that reason? Very uncaring and unprofessional.

We drove 178 miles to Dr Allan based on her reputation and we will return....because in addition to expertise...Dr Allen and her amazing staff treated us with caring hearts and obvious commitment to the animals they serve.I was so anxious about leaving my beloved dog-they provided comprehensive education, were honest and reassuring. Most importantly, Mary Jane was at ease....the neo knows! Thanks to all the wonderful people who took care of us.
