Services
Our beautiful 1840's home has been carefully furnished with period furniture and oriental rugs. The house's original owners were tailors by trade, which served as the inspiration for the home's dcor. Located in the Historic District of Old Abingdon and built in 1840, A Tailor's Lodging was completely restored in 2003 using the Department of Interior Standards.
One of the best attributes of A Tailor's Lodging is its location. Located in the Historic District of Old Abingdon, we are within walking distance of Barter Theater, many great restaurants, shopping, Wolf Hills Microbrewery, local Arts and Crafts, the Farmers Market and the Virginia Creeper Trail. Outdoor enthusiasts should visit the Virginia Creeper Trail, a National Recreation Trail which has been inducted into the Rails To Trails Hall of Fame.

A Tailor's Lodging is the best place I've stayed. Rick and Susan are the best, most gracious hosts you could ever wish to encounter. The history of the original structure and it's location make it the absolute best place for visiting Abingdon and the surrounding area, all part of making Abingdon one of my favorite destinations!

I love love love this house! I didn't want to leave! The owners are friendly and have done a fine job setting up the home for visitors. The bed is comfortable with high quality bedding, towels are high quality, and the home is pristine and beautifully decorated. Staying here was very comfortable and relaxing. I was in heaven! I plan to visit here again.

The lodgings are a nicely renovated set of buildings from the nineteenth century, formerly occupied by several generations of Abingdon tailors. There is quality construction throughout and filled with historical pieces collected by the owners. The site is in a historical area easy walking distance to a number of interesting shops and cafes, including the Virginia Creeper Trail. The train tracks run close by and may disturb some, but we barely noticed. Rooms are large and clean; ours had a gas fireplace. No young children welcome, however.

Beautiful place to stay. One upstairs room with a separate bathroom, one downstairs room with a bathroom included. Mid-level has various sitting areas and kitchen. There's a patio and deck. Adorable cottage available as well. WiFi, cable TV. Very comfortable, good location near the creeper trail and the Barter Theatre. Owner is very nice and accommodating.

Stayed here while visiting to do the Virginia Creeper Trail, and had an absolutely wonderful time! We stayed in the adorable little cottage, which was so nicely decorated, completely stocked and spacious but cozy! The owners were so kind and helpful - we didn't know what else to do in town, and they pretty much laid out our weekend for us, with great suggestions for a local brewery with a trivia night, great restaurants, and a couple sights to see in town. Also reasonably priced, which is, of course, a plus! Highly recommend - just loved!!! :)
