The school began small: they planned for ten children and two teachers and in fact had twenty children enrolled their first year. The "Day Nursery" has undergone two name changes over the years. In 1985 the school was recognized as Prince of Peace Nursery School and in 2010 the name became Prince of Peace Pre-School, as it remains today.

The pre-school was first awarded accreditation in 1999 by the National Association for the Education of Young Children, and proudly maintains this achievement. The Director and Assistant Director are responsible for the school on a daily basis, and work with an appointed Pre-School Committee. There are sixteen highly qualified teachers and teacher assistants on staff.
Services
Our mission at Prince of Peace Pre-School is to provide young children and their families a positive first school experience, offering the opportunity to interact with other children in a warm, caring and accepting environment that supports the development of wholesome social relationships. All children have access to a safe and accessible, high quality early childhood education that includes a developmentally appropriate curriculum.
The Prince of Peace Pre-School Curriculum is based on the Connecticut Early Learning and Development Standards, http://www.ct.gov/oec/elds and criteria established in the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) accreditation. In our three year old program we recognize that each child enters at a very individual developmental stage.
Director - Heidi Riddle began working at Prince of Peace Pre-School in 2007. She started her time at the Pre-School as a teacher in a 3 year old class. The following year she began a Science program and taught science lessons to all PoP students for the next 11 years. Heidi moved into Office Administration in 2015.
Our experience at Prince of Peace has been amazing! I'm sad this is our last year as this is our youngest child. The memories we have here have left a lasting impression. Many thanks to all the staff for a positive, nurturing pre-school experience. Teachers are fantastic with food allergies. They keep a very structured and organized classroom.
